We ALL want barefoot research except the BEVA?

agree totally that any improvement is good but the two horses I'm referring to are not sound. One is on a rubber surface and the other one is chestnut, the blog mentioned 'big paces' (?) Also, these days a lot of horses compete at advanced levels by the time they're 6 - 8 yrs, so not old by...

We ALL want barefoot research except the BEVA?

I'm still very puzzled by this. I took my horse to Leahurst for the MRI, after having learned about Rockley and making the assumption that Leahurst support barefoot as a treatment option. Yet their attitude was the complete opposite, under no circumstances was barefoot to be considered -...

What would you expect from an agility class?

Blackcob, I'm in Worcestershire so your class might be within travelling distance. Could you pm me the details please? All the classes I went to came from Agility net, but there are 2 more I will have a look at - without taking the dog, the poor boy was not a happy bunny after that one on one...

What would you expect from an agility class?

Have been looking for a local agility class for my rescue. First one we went to people were standing about chatting not really doing much at all. Second one wanted a session with the dog to introduce him to the equipment and proceeded to drag the poor thing up the a frame, tried to get him to...

    Headshakers/British Dressage Good News!

Errrrr.... this has been the case for years?! ( I sold my headshaker 5 years ago and he had been competing BD with a dispensation for at least 3 years...) I believe you get the same with BE and BSJA..? :D

Thin soles what causes them and how can they be "cured" thoughts please.

My TB also had soles so thin that you could flex them with your thumb. I changed farriers about a year ago and the soles are really strong now so I guess foot balance does have something to do with it. I did not change the diet as I had previously tried most things, Farriers Formula, Pro...

    All these barefoot posts.....

I know what thrush is, thank you and believe me, it is hard to mistake it. But I do think a lot of people are using it as an excuse to explain why their horse is footy. And I would not class bleach as harmless....

    All these barefoot posts.....

Are you actually saying that none of your horses have thrush????! When I look on the barefoot forum, it seems that every other barefoot horse has thrush!:confused::confused: Shod horses have this too, apparently, but it's hidden by the shoes... I don't know what's more...

    Navicular!

If you can afford it, it's well worth having the MRI done, so that you know exactly what you're dealing with. Most of the horses with 'navicular' have DDFT damage which seems to be quite simple to fix. My boy seems to be the odd ball who only has impar ligament damage, nothing else. I tried...

How much does the presentation of a horse affect your opinion when viewing?

I'm the complete opposite, I walk away from anything that is shown to me sparkley clean, plaited with a white numnah and bandages... You know instantly that the asking price is at least 2k more than the horse is worth! I really don't care if the horse is covered in mud, it's paces and...

    Firing

Do you think the scar tissue from firing would reduce circulation in the lower legs and feet? OH mentioned this and it got me wondering. :)

horse insurance who to go with?

Sadly, you get what you pay for. Avoid the cheaper ones, they probably won't pay out. Unfortunately you will only find out how good an insurance company is when you need to make a claim. I have made 2 claims with NFU in the last 5 years and both were paid without a lot of hassle, including...

How do I get a horse to hack out on his own?

:) Took me a good 6 months before I could hack my ex racer on his own and probably a year before we stopped having discussions about everything we met...! :) I did a lot of getting off and leading initially, that seemed to do the trick, just took much longer than I expected. Have you tried...

rehoming an exracer-dont know which one?

Depends what you want to do with the horse, both my ex racers came out of racing because of injury, both have been perfectly sound for dressage and hacking and the occassional (small!) jumping session. I would personally be reluctant to have something that's run 75 times but if it's stayed...
