Morning all.
My sister's gelding has been fed on Havens Slobbermash for the last 5/6 years or so. Before putting him onto that we'd struggled to keep weight on him in the winter, but since we started feeding it he's done really well. Unfortunately our only local stockist is no longer selling it...
My friend used to have a mare who was passported as "Page 3 Girl" - she was a very tarty traditional cob mare so it suited her!
My sister's first horse was called Munterinney Tom, but everyone called him Tom the Munter :p (he was not in any way a munter but a very handsome ISH!)
I only did a half day of tuition immediately before my test, but we've got a wee trailer I could tow on my normal licence so I'd practised (mostly reversing!) with that.
I got a pair of soft shell ones in either Aldi or Lidl last winter, and they've been brilliant! I'm about an 18 and bought the 32, they're pretty stretchy and have done a good job of keeping me dry. They're fleece lined as well. Mine are navy. It's probably worth keeping an eye out in case they...
I wouldn't say that's normal. When our horses were on a yard with others I used to ride out with a male livery fairly often and my OH never so much as raised an eyebrow about it.
This was me. I didn't have a lesson for YEARS while I had my last horse, started up again after I bought Jazz and was horrified by how many bad habits I'd picked up without noticing! Mostly through only riding one horse for 7 years without any regular instruction.
Speak to a bitting expert. I went to a talk by Heather from Neue Schule at one of my local tack shops a couple of years ago and at the end I showed her a video of Jazz being ridden and explained he was quite fussy and fidgety in his mouth. At the time he was ridden in a French link hanging...
My sister's horse is usually known as Gigantor - he's a 17.2hh IDxTB and is built like the gable end of a house.
Our farrier refers to Jazz as "Trouble" ... make of that what you will :p
The sole came away from one of my Grasmeres when they were less than a year old. I'd bought them from Derby House but Ariat couldn't have been more helpful. They sent me a postage label and repaired the boot free of charge, and gave me leather cleaner and conditioner when they sent them back...
My sister's horse is in a no-fill rainsheet, he's very thin-skinned and gets really unhappy when he's wet. He's currently got a cough which is worse in the stable so he's having to live out 24/7 on vet's advice. If he was able to come in we probably wouldn't bother rugging him.
