How far do you travel from home to your livery yard?

I drive about an hour and twenty minutes but only at weekends because my horse is with a trainer.

Ride in country boots - yay or nay?

It would be a YAY from me. My Forest Highlanders from Mountain Horse are fine to ride in, the blurb says that the sole is specifically designed for it. :)

    Jodhs.. £5.

    Just had a look on the Mountain Horse website. I think the confusion is arising because some people are quoting the UK inch sizes and some the european sizes. According to them UK26 is a Euro 38 which is a size 12 so: 8 = 22" = 34 10 = 24" = 36 12 = 26" = 38 14 = 28" = 40 16 = 30" = 42...

Moulting!! It's official ...spring has arrived!

Yay! Great News! For the people worrying about whether it is too late to clip in case you will ruin their coats from my experience you won't. Eventers clip in the summer when necessary and their coats are still gorgeous and shiny when they grow back. The shine comes from within and all that! :)

Would you pay to ride offroad?

I would pay, and indeed have in the past. One of our local farmers opened up some "non bridlepath" tracks for us years ago and I think we paid about £5/month then so I would say that £75 per year is a good deal if the tracks are good. At least you will be safe from the idiots that seem to be on...

    Mountain horse bodyguard jacket

Yes, I agree about the elbows bit! Just watched an info vid on the Joyriderz one and it does look nice but it said it was weather proof/water resistant not waterproof so I think I will go for the Bodyguard. Thanks for the info. :)

    Mountain horse bodyguard jacket

Ooh! I was wondering about one of these. I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has had a fall. Did it help etc?

John McCririck, or so I'm told.......

Cannot bear him, never could but the loss of John Francome is just tragic and I used to love Alistair Downs compilation pieces.

    Question for western riders.

Agree with HEN. Works for me too.

    Another western question

Yes you can as long as they are correctly Western trained. There is more to riding Western than putting on Western tack.:)

    Any truth to this?

I have always been told that this is true and also that turning out on frosty/frozen grass can increase the risk of laminitus too :(

Mountain Horse High Rider II, Sportive or Tuffa Norfolk?

The only thing I would say that really you should have black boots if you want to use them for some shows as well. The Mountain Horse sportive is very similar to the High Rider II but is not quite as chunky so good for shows and still as comfy. I had my zip replaced by a local cobbler (MH sent...

Enough to put you off breaking horses in for life! *Video*

Wow! I agree very good jockey. You never know with videos like this - they might well be trying to sort out a problem that someone else has caused. Very few horses would react that violently when sat on for the first time, imo.

Do we get too attatched to our animals?

I have a cat, dog and a horse. Both the cat and the dog are heading into their dotage. I do worry about when the "decision" may have to be made and how upset I will be but it isn't about me it is about doing the right thing at the right time for them. That is the payback for all the love and...
