I enjoy hunting ex RHs. I find their stamina and speed such a lifeline out hunting BUT they are more high maintenance through tough hunting seasons so I tend to find I need 2 RHs for every one traditional hunt-bred horse!
I would avoid flat RHs. Invriably they have not had the time pre-racing...
Sounds like equine keratosis. A harmless enough if unsightly condition.
The product MTG (apply using rubber glvoes - it stinks! - and a sponge - if you can get close enough) softens the scabs and you can 'scratch' them out. Or even basic cradle cap lotion from the baby aisle in the supermarket...
Those who hunt aren't bonded by social or socio-econmic class. Think of it as more of a "Countryside Class". As someone above said, it is more to do with being 'of the countryside' than how much money you have or if you have handles in the family.
Do you understand hounds?
Do you love to see...
Kauto Star looks amazing in that video. Better than ever. Strong in the right places. Gleaming coat. Relaxed and happy temperament. What's not to like? The horse is clearly thriving.
Fair do's to LC. She has clearly worked hard and her efforts have paid dividends already.
No, it's not harsh. I'm not talking about 10 minutes of prolonged hitting!
The moment it has lifted its leg out at a hound (or other horse), you need to swiftly give it half a dozen whacks behind your leg.
the message you are sending is that it is not acceptable and the idea is you make your...
You need to take your stick and give your horse a thrashing. It HAS to stop doing it (otherwise you should not take it hunting at all, not even staying at the back).
I've seen hounds that have been shot on the spot having been kicked by a horse.
YOU have to stop your horse raising a leg or you...
The RPJ band played the Ledbury's Fox Rocks on a couple of occasions. I rather suspect they charge more than we could afford! They are fantastic though and really rock the party!
I'm not a fan of any kind of entertainment other than music. If people are on broncos or blowing horns, then people are not partying on the dancefloor. They break up the rythym of the night and can just break up the party imo. However you do need to ring the changes from time to time just to...
Get the essentials right. So in my opinion, you want the right people there and give them the right atmosphere and they will make the night.
I would advocate a smart backdrop for a marquee. Drinks reception included in ticket price to get people tiddly. Then plenty of affordable but good wine...
Check your timings too. In late October you will posibly by "Autumn Hunting" or otherwise proper hunting. You may want to investigate which you wish to do. There is quite a difference in the price you will pay and the type of riding you will be offered. The changeover date is around the end of...
I hunted until 20 weeks when rising trot became unbearable with my bump. I didn't jump after 12 weeks.
Pre 12 weeks the feotus is well protected inside the pelvis. AFter 12 weeks it starts to rise up and is more exposed.
My horse was rock solid and steady and the hunt I went with was pretty...
I hope there is a market! My old hunter (rising 19) is awesome in everyway. A perfect gentleman to hack (on own or in company), sweetest and most biddable horse in the stable and lives in or out. He has no vices at all. Sound as a pound. Went out and won a unaff dressage competition the other...
