Without wanting to be overly boastful but I think I'm a great sharer. I'm there on the days I say I'll be there. I work the horse well but don't over work him. I always aim to leave everything tidier than I found it. His feet are picked, his stable is clean, as is his tack.
I ADORE my...
In the circumstances I'm not changing tack without the owner's knowledge. There is no suitable saddle for 2 weeks. I've mentioned riding bareback before and owner was fine.
I don't make it out of walk but find it's great for my balance, for feeling his movement, for working on...
So I have a new-ish share horse who I adore. We've just been having so far as the weather has been too nice to waste.
Due to a saddle issue I can't ride (well I could bareback) for 2 weeks. I don't want to do nothing with him though so what can I do that doesn't involve a saddle?

Some owners need sharers to do full stable duties. Others don't.
If you are used to field duties you'll be fine doing stable duties. You know that they need fresh water, poo needs picked and they need to be in the correct rugs etc. All you're really adding is mucking out. Just be honest...
I'm sure you'll find someone just be totally honest. There's nothing more annoying than being told a horse is great at x and then they turn out not to be.
Personally I wouldn't charge as much as suggested if there are full stable duties required.
Having done part loan for a while I'm looking for a full loan now. I currently have 2 options and am going to give myself an ulcer going round and round.
Horse 1: gelding 17yo does not act it. Relishes being in work and loves to jump. Must stay on current yard. Yard is close but very run down...
Insurance, high viz added to my list now.
Won't need tools etc or hay as that's all included in the price.
I see your point about mud everywhere! I'd rather deal with mud and have them live out. I like them au natural!
Highlands don't tend to have white legs do they?
Thanks that's so helpful.
I've had a long break from horses and am now back having some lessons and I'm lucky enough to have found a fabulous share horse. I'm so rusty but things are coming back to me now! ;-)
I can fit a rug, bridle etc quite confidently but feel like a fish out of...
Super that's a great help.
I won't need tools or troughs etc as that's all taken care of by the yard on grass livery.
Also no show entries etc. I'm definitely not a show person! ;-)
Yeah I figured I might not need the rugs but I'd rather have them than not.
The one thing I'd...
Thanks for the extra ideas! First aid kit especially.
What I really meant was: can you look at my last and give me an idea of how much I'd need to but all these start up things?
Sorry I don't think I was very clear.
