Rolled/crushed barley … anyone use it anymore?

I use michronised flaked barley at Β£10 a bag from Carrs Billington.

Do we over clip our horses

I clip the racehorses because I have to not because I want to πŸ˜‚ none of my own are clipped as they are not in work. The birds like gathering the rolled out hair or standing on the horses backs to pluck hair out to make their nests with in spring

    FFS, horse

Both my old grey Shetland and the Welsh cob can be tricky to catch. Ie. It was once in a blue moon you could catch either of them in the field! It just wouldn't happen! But open the gate and let them into a smaller area and you had absolutely no issues what so ever. Food never, ever worked. As...

You still can't under one societies rules.

Correctional shoeing would suggest or highlight a confirmation fault or hide a lameness if wearing normal shoes. It is the same for all showing classes - if shod they must be traditional shaped shoes made from steel, lightweight steel or aluminium.

HOYS - Showing the world that a lame and obese pony can be a champion

The pony JLC is on - Briar Pandora is the paternal grandmother of Briar Snow Fox who was 3rd in the Open Ridden at HOYS this year and 6th in the First Ridden. He also qualified for the Lead Rein but was unplaced. Their breeder, Mrs Hampton was the confirmation judge in the M&M Junior ridden at...

HOYS - Showing the world that a lame and obese pony can be a champion

Yes they used to ride them in the finals at the NPS Championships. Then they stopped riding the small breeds as not all judges were small enough to ride them. They might still ride some of the large breeds but not many now. I think the judge still rides the C's and D's at the Royal Welsh...

HOYS - Showing the world that a lame and obese pony can be a champion

I felt like one of those earlier πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I rode a barely scraping 16hh narrow horse that my legs went straight down on and there was obviously no belly behind my heel as he is race fit then I got on my 17hh tank of a horse who again is race fit but always carries a little around the waist. I could...

It's not the most flattering picture of the pair either.

Trust me that shetland and rider combo are some of the better ones out there with adult riders! If you had seen a couple of the jockeys on them in the Open flat class you may rethink your idea of the whp! Though I was glad to see the kids holding their own in the Open Ridden on their shetlands...

What do rosettes mean to you

Tatty of course he needs a board of his own! Though my ocd wouldn't allow my boards to look like yours... I like my tails tucked in πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ BTW this board hasn't been touch since it was put up in 1999 ... oops!

What do rosettes mean to you

Like everyone else - memories! I can remember winning the majority of them! I have hundreds of them from various different horses and ponies over the years and they all mean something different. I have 2 white 1sts and the white, gold and tartan champion rosette and sash to go with them. They...

Petition to allow barefoot TBs to compete in RoR classes

Yes it is a rule for one Hunter society too. It's a daft rule and one that means I won't ever show in RoR ridden classes again. Gray wore front shoes when showing but not hinds and he was perfectly happy doing that. He doesn't wear shoes at all now.
