    Coloured fans...what do you prefer?

Skewbald or tri-coloured for me and minimal white. Plus I'd rather them on Sport horse breeds not cobs, though I think a coloured cob, clipped and hogged, can scrub up quite well! If anyone could gift me the 5k it costs to buy this chap I'd be very happy!

    Preparing for Mud Fever

http://www.equilibriumproducts.com/leg_protection/equi_chapsreg_close_contact_chaps/ Getting two pairs of those next week, she'll only be out in the day and she only gets it mildly and never near her coronary band more just under her fetlocks so I'm assured they'll be kept nice and dry and...

    Exercise sheets!

I have a Thermatex one :) Fleece, waterproof and reflective. It was an absolute bargain at 40 pounds from the local tack shop which also sells second hand stuff. Though I think it would have bee quite a lot new. Though if you have a decent sum of money to spend then I would recommend it greatly...

Does anyone have a HORZE turnout rug?

Does anyone have a HORZE turnout rug?

I just went and had a look and I'm so very tempted to get the stable rug! Anyway it says on the description of each turnout rug:

    a good but cheaper clipper?

I got some Liveryman's last year for 160. Though we split the cost between three of us so that they were cheaper! They work well and I need to get them all fired up for this year. I can't remember the make but brought them from Robinsons. They got through my Welsh's thick hair, my friends Gypsy...

Black or brown tack for chestnut?

Thanks for all the comments :) I cannot wait for Sunday now to try this new saddle, all her other tack fits but since my friend is selling it I get mates rates and at 400 pounds I can't pass up the offer to at least try it! :p Ginger Bear - Your horse looks very much like one of my friends and...

    Which clip ?

I tend to just take it all off in one go, then prefer to rug up. Trying hold on till early October until I do. Last year I went for a hunter clip as we were doing a lot of work but she did live out so needed the legs on, even though she did get mud fever which made it a little tricky. But she...

Ever been injured by a horse?

Broken finger and broken foot after a horrible storm and rushing in horses from the field and two horses stood/reared on the exact same part of my foot within 2 minutes, talk about unlucky! Oh and the dead leg I got when I was going cross country on a young pony and he decided the planks were...

UPDATE #2..."2 Days at new livery and already miserable"

The whole situation is awful but the thing about the rugs is so bad! I'm a student too and I would not want to keep replacing things I can't afford to! Imagine if they used a rug of yours and it came back ripped, I'm betting no open would own up to doing it therefore you'd be the one sending it...

help with lower leg over fences

Haha thanks! If you find that you tend to ride with long stirrups for jumping try shortening them as it really does help. As you can tell I used to ride in near dressage length! I didn't even realize how long they were until I got them up to where they were supposed to be! It was painful at...

help with lower leg over fences

I have this problem too, but its improved a lot in the past year! I was told it's because I was gripping with my knees and that I needed to relax them. Easier said then done. But over time with constant work it finally kinda clicked! Shortening the stirrups help too as it helps the leg become...

Are your mares / fillys dangerous or aggressive when in season???

I have a 14.2hh Sec D chestnut mare too! Though she's thirteen so a little more mature (well a little more grumpy). With the boys she just flirts and squeals and is typically a tart. At last weeks country show she had a lot of boyfriends (I think she pulled at least eight times!) one gelding...

Black or brown tack for chestnut?

Hrmmm who knew choosing the colour of tack would be such a hard choice D: I have somehow acquired three saddles since having her and its only been a year, one came with her and two I've brought. So, in the words of the late Amy Winehouse,I can always go back to black. Plus the...

How soon after exercising do you turn out?

I tend to take tack off, give her a quick groom/sponge if need be then try to wait about 15 minutes before turning her out. If we've been out for a light hack and done no more than a few short bursts of trot as soon as her tacks off she's free to go out. Plus if I'm feeding after she's been...
