We had a 'village' peacock who flew in one day and lived here for about 16 years before sadly being hit by a car on the now-busier road. Extremely noisy fella, mind you, I'm not sure I'd want to have a bunch of them around 😄 Someone thought it would be kind to buy a peahen 'companion' for him in...
Brown romanian-type dog came after me and my dog this morning, slipped under a kissing gate and stood there growling and barking at us, then advanced, growled a bit more, meanwhile woman is up on the higher path ineffectually calling its name  I shout at her to please come and get it...
'Greyhounds' should be the dictionary description of 'stubborn' shouldn't they 😄 Such creatures of habit. I try to get Joe to lie in the hall (coolest spot) but he's not keen. He's huffing and puffing and nose-whining at me now because he wants to go out for a walk, which I'm going to have to...
I would guess she'll take herself downstairs if she's too hot, especially if she has a bed upstairs and one downstairs (or the couch!). Mine is hot just lying on his bed in this weather so he has a pedestal fan pointing his way and on pretty much all night. He will get up and lie on the carpeted...
I sponge down my greyhound before a walk too 😄 And because I take water/bowl out with us he sometimes gets some of that on his bonce/under the armpits too half-way around!
Kongs are great, mine loves a frozen peanut-butter one.
Turns out they've caught the guy and the dog's escaped, so is roaming the woods. A few locals have said they know him and the dog's not friendly (unsurprising, with that owner) so not sure how things'll turn out for it now
Armed police are looking for this guy near where I live at the moment and he has a Cane Corso...presumably as an extra weapon in his aggressive arsenal. I wonder if it'll end in them catching him and shooting the dog. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crg3nj5g7g9o
Absolutely agree - and in that case a decent rescue takes the dog back and either rehomes to someone without the triggers of the first household or PTS if it's irredeemable aggressive behaviour.
I take Joe to cottages in Pembrokeshire/Cardiganshire, we go at least once a year - quite a lot of small beaches that are open to dogs in the summer and you can choose to be remote or in a village/town depending on your preference! Tend to use https://www.coastalcottages.co.uk/ or...
Thank you both! @misst that's interesting that your lad is less reactive, I'm hoping it'll have that sort of effect with Joe's noise sensitivity too. I guess we never really know how much pain/discomfort they're in, day to day, and it's totally understandable that it would make them stressed and...
True, and some would be obvious from the get-go, but some dogs show undesirable behaviour in kennels that disappears in a relaxed home environment, it would be a shame to write them off just because they've been put in a stressful situation. There would have to be some very clear criteria on...
I think sometimes the quotes say in small print that it's only valid for 24 hours or a week or whatever and then they can change it, maybe one of those situations? Definitely worth calling them to check as you might end up with a better deal anyway!
Congrats on your new boy!
