    Pushy Parents.....

Haha this is making me laugh now, I didn't mention where I was in the country or at first even if the child was a male or female. Suddenly lots of people join the forum and start a mass defensive, funny how you recognised the person in question from my (apparently) wrong description of her...

    Pushy Parents.....

I was simply making an observation based on what I saw, it's not about having two sides to a story, it's just about highlighting something that goes on in the competition world which isn't necessary. I just felt sad for the young boy being shouted at and I was not the only one there to comment...

    Pushy Parents.....

He did actually, maybe I should take my mum along and get her to shout at me? :D

    Pushy Parents.....

Sadly, I don't think there is any getting through to parents like these and agree you do see it in all walks of life, especially where there is an element of competition to it. It's a lost childhood in my opinion. I'd imagine most children grow up completely resenting their parents for this...

Back in the saddle after pregnancy

It took me quite a while, I had SPD during pregnancy and a c-section birth. I was all geared up and ready to go at 8 weeks post birth (just for a walk around the school). However my horse can be a little difficult on the ground and managed to completely blow my confidence before I got back on...

    Pushy Parents.....

We went to our first competition of the year this weekend, only a fun unaffiliated one, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves despite the cold weather. When, into the warm up arena, in marched a woman in a full competition outfit (hairnet included) followed by a small child on a Shetland...

    Riding in pregnancy?

I stopped riding as soon as I found out with my first. I had planned to continue but once I became pregnant I felt that having 9 months off was far better than the possibility of a fall and losing my baby. I ended up having a year off due to a c-section and massive "new mum" confidence issues...

How many days a week do you work your horses?

I try to aim for 4-5 days a week, however mine has had a mini holiday since before Christmas now - it's just been too windy and our school is flooded :( we have a competition this weekend so if I don't get to ride him before then, it should be interesting to watch....

Maintaining an outline in rising trot

Hi Cobsgalore, I have the same problem, the trouble is as soon as I start thinking about something else (leg position, body etc) my elbows fix and my hands move. My instructor gave me a tip that might help you too. When you start rising initially, stretch both pinky fingers down towards the...

Does anyone here have a horsey blog?

I have been browsing them all, love them but for some reason I cannot subscribe to them all, maybe its something I am doing wrong? Pigeon, your photography is beautiful! Stunning, stunning pictures, I am currently trying to practice taking a decent picture with my Nikon but even photography...

Does anyone here have a horsey blog?

Not sure if I have posted this in the wrong place so apologies if I have.... Just wondered if anyone here has their own blog? I am just trying to figure out the blogging world and start my own but in the meantime it would be good to read other peoples so please share :)

To all you olympia baby haters!

Glad all went well OP, I have to admit I wouldn't have been able to handle my 17 month old at Olympia as it's too crowded and he has found his feet which means he wants to be running around on them all day :) Instead, I enjoyed a rare "mummy only time" event this year and he stayed at home with...

Horse tunout at Olympia - no one likes an armchair critic.....

I love seeing the horses looking good and well turned out in competitions, but I am not particular with the way they are turned out, watching them perform well and look happy doing so is the most important thing to me. Although, what I really hate to see is a rider with their own hair in a...

    bolting advise...

I had this problem with my boy but in reverse, it started when I was pregnant and every time I tried to bring him in he would rear, strike out and try and bolt off. Leading him out - he was an angel. Because my confidence all but disappeared because of this, I got the help of an equine...
