Dog Suddenly Refusing to Walk / Anxiety Walking

Thanks for all your help! He had a trip back to the vets today and was given the all clear for glaucoma and cataracts, so that was good news. He also LOVES the snow (from under 3 coats) so has had some fab walks this week. It’s so nice to see him enjoying himself again and hoping it might even...

Dog Suddenly Refusing to Walk / Anxiety Walking

Thank you! Hadn't thought of that, definitely worth a try. Do you know if there's a particular brand they use or recommend?

Dog Suddenly Refusing to Walk / Anxiety Walking

One of our dogs (we have 2) has suddenly, since just before Christmas, been planting and refusing to walk around the village. He's 10 now, we've had him since a rescue pup and while he's always been prone to a bit of anxiety this normally presents in his general demeanour and behaviour rather...

    That horse smell (on hands!)

Head & Shoulders! Someone recommended it to me once and it's surprisingly effective, wash hands as normal + a blob of H&S!

    Stirrup Leather Sizing

I am 5'8'' (though relatively long thigh) and the Henry James 54'' are quite short for me. The excess end bit isn't long enough to fit through the keeper on my saddle and from memory I think the leathers are only about 3 holes from the end, so if anyone else rides your horse or you have...

    Badminton Live Stream

    No sound here either! :(

    stretching calf on riding boots

Another recommendation for twine/using a coat hanger hook to pull the zip up! Also try running your finger up the inside of the zip as you do it up - sounds like it would just add bulk but actually really helpful! Was out of breath the first few times I used my current long boots but they’re...

    Anatomical bridle recommendations please

Schockemohle fan here! I switched to the Alpha from a standard ‘comfort’ bridle with cutback headpiece etc. And was surprised by the difference - he has never tried to rub his face/bridle off since and has been going better than ever in it. Lovely quality too!

    Horse and Hound Columnist

I knew this would be about that awful woman! I stopped paying attention to the back page after the edition sneering at new subscribers when she returned to her childhood hunt. I think the idea of the column had potential but it's been in serious decline. As you say - boring, unoriginal and she...

    Nick Gauntlett training

I posted about Nick recently in Tack Room when I was deciding whether or not to book a lesson? I went for it on the basis of the great feedback and had the lesson last month. Nick was absolutely fantastic, struck a great balance of being tough and hugely encouraging, explained things clearly and...

    Aldi rugs

Did anyone else find the turnout necks absolutely tiny this year?! I got a 6'6" (usual size, smaller end of 6'6") for mine as a spare and tried it on today but the velcro on the neck will barely close - he'd be completely strangled if he tried to put his head down with it done up

    Eileen Douglas Rugs

I also had a HUGE neck hole fleece! Wouldn't recommend for a TB-type (though he isn't especially narrow) but could be just right for you then!

(Beach) Hacking/Horse Hire in North Norfolk?

Thanks for the tip :-) Looks great and also like they might have something I could tempt my (competent but) terrified mother onto!

    Cheap jodhpurs?

Have you tried eBay? I've had some new/barely worn bargains so you might get a bit more for your money if you keep an eye out.

(Beach) Hacking/Horse Hire in North Norfolk?

Does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere in North Norfolk - although happy to drive a bit - that offers beach rides? I've had a bit of a Google but I know a lot of places don't have websites and a recommendation would be great. We (family) stay in Old Hunstanton and have talked about...
