I'm sure someone who can explain better will be along soon, but as I understood; 40hrs with one employer, and a fixed schedule, is not truly self-employment. 40hrs is pretty much a full week for most people, so you would not be able to work much elsewhere. Also if you are self-employed, you...
Just out of shear curiosity sunnyone, what releveance does having 24hr access to the premises to whether someone is self-employed? Not saying I'm questioning it, just genuinely curious!
Also is it a grey area of say a pet sitter, when the owner has asked for Mittens to be done by X time, how...
Thank you all much appreciated advice. I will contact HMRC and forward them our conversation, may at least give her enough of scare to pay a living wage to someone.
On the flip side, I have been to see a fantastic couple today who where so lovely and have offered me a wonderful package, which...
I find it really quite sad that the equine industry is still so backwards. It's made me quite cross, not for myself, but because I know that she will find someone who just doesn't understand their rights and will inevitably get hurt/ill as most horse people do and have no protection for it...
I have just been in touch with a potential employer whom has asked me to work a 5 day, 40 hours, fixed schedule week, as a freelancer.
I obviously politely explained why that would not be viable for me, nor would it be remotely legal. However I am slightly worried that someone younger or more...
Pony update for anyone interested; by Sunday morning he was very uncomfortable again and when I changed the poultice, the hole had closed itself up 🙄. Put him in a hot tub that was only just bearable in the hopes of drawing it out a bit more, but to no avail.
So have got the vet coming out...
Update on pony today; massive amount of black pus came out on the poultice this morning, and he's had some errupt from his outside heel bulb too. It was stinky 🤢
Still not sound, and is still hopping, but a lot better than he was yesterday. It's looks to me like the abscess has just completely...
Thank you all, I'm glad I'm not alone! Vet has been and we think it's an abscess. No pus yet, but vet pretty confident. We're to keep poulticing over the weekend and if no improvement by Monday then we will x-ray.
I completely echo what everyone is saying re noticing things that others just...
It's a well known joke on my yard that I 'break' horses. I obviously don't as I am extremely contentious about workload, physio, farrier, vet, ect. However, the fact remains that I seem to have nothing but bad luck with my horses.
I sadly had my old mare put to sleep last Friday, and Mum very...
My lovely old mare has started to struggle already this winter. She has a whole host of issues and is already on pain relief daily.
I have been having a chat with my vet this week and we do both feel it's getting close to being time to let her go.
I am finding it so hard to make the decision, in...
I really like my Clipperman Crest trimmers for smaller clips and younger/nervous horses. They're fairly small, but they're mains powered so a bit more powerful than rechargeable trimmers. Can do an Irish type clip with them in about 20 minutes and I find they leave a lovely finish.
They cost me...
I have a Samsung watch that will let me message without my phone, however the caveat is that you must be on either EE or I think Virgin (don't quote me on that one) as your network. Of you're on any other network you must have your phone with you. When I was riding out regularly on my own in the...
Could you maybe use electrical tape, or something similar, and tape up the throatlatch? That's what I did when I had a mare with really bad pollups, same as you no one ever listened to me about not putting it over her ears, but if I taped the clip on the throatlatch up, it had to be done the...
