Hi,
I would do lines of poles at 3.5yrds apart, and gradually raise poles so you end up with combinations with the poles inbetween.
This will mean you teach them what stride length you want, and how to keep the rhythm down to a fence. It will also find you out if your canter is not big...
Hi,
I know a 3* horse on the way down so to speak who sold for 65k with past injuries. He had a very good Dr and SJing record, but was never consistent at 3*.
I would think a proven 3* horse with the strong possibility of being a good 4* horse would be upwards of 100k.

Hi,
Thank you for the replies!
Thank you ofcourseyoucan, I just worry that slapping her if she is genuinely worried will reinforce there is something to worry about? But I guess she needs to learn it isn't acceptable.
brushingboots, no, she will spin either way! I am pleased to see other...
Hi,
Sorry I know this isn't strictly competiton riders, but I thought people in here may have more experience with sharper horses.
My youngster has learnt how to spin when spooking, and it is worrying me that she will get into the habit of doing it!
Has anyone tried anything that works to...
Thank you again!
She doesnt seem distressed, and if it wasnt such a jerky movement I wouldnt have even noticed! She is quite a sharp mare so I think it may just be her quick reactions. Pleased you have said that about headshakers, never had any experience of them before to be honest, so I am a...
Thanks.
No she can't stay out over the winter, as I haven't got enough land! But I do turn her out in the day every day. I have noticed it more on rainy days when the drops get onto her nose?!
She has never done it before, and was in a much dustier environment when I brought her. Is it...
Hiya,
Thank you. She is on straw at the moment but it is not dusty, I can't bed on straw if it is! She is mucked out every day and is on hayledge. Her teeth are done regularly and she shows no discomfort in her back, but I will get it checked out.
Has anyone found any treatments that help...
Good thread, I hope no-one minds me joining in?
Highs have been getting my "old" mare to Novice eventing, and starting to crack our dressage, getting under 40!!
Also raising some money to buy a 4year old to hopefully make some money on next year!
Lows are realising we are never going to be...
Hiya,
I've had my youngster since the summer, and she has never shown any signs of headshaking when I would expect it to be in the summer?
However, since she has been in more she has shown "twitchy" headshaking? Has anyone come across headshaking in the winter, and is it likely she is a...
Thank you. She is on shavings on rubber matting, and hay at the moment, but they hay is good quality and not dusty. Hopefully the hayledge will help, as the breathing supplements all seem quite expensive!
Thanks again.
Hi,
My mare is currently coughing quite a lot when she comes out of the stable first thing in the morning, and also snorts a lot, almost like she is clearing her air ways the first 20mins of work. Her wind is ok, as she is fine XC etc, but the snorting and coughing etc does worry me a bit!
Has...
Hi,
Thank you Cullohill. Sounds like she may be worth a look.
jess_sj, I really want something that is backed, so I can work it over the winter, turn it away for a couple of months when the event season starts, and then do some age classes later in the season to then sell on again. Do Daddy's...
of Di Fairclough? I am looking for a young "project" horse to run alongside my novice horse, but don't want to be spending big money. I noticed the above has had an ad in H+H advertising young horses, does anyone know anything about her or had any dealings at all?
Alternatively, any...
