Aha, do you really think the only people who dislike what the organisation has become have a more sinister axe to grind?
Laughable!
The origins of the RSPCA are noble and we should thank them for being a beacon in dark times.
However the task of enforcing law is for the police alone. The...
Absolutely, but that is because of different set of rules to those that govern the treatment of animals kept as pets.
It's a clear cut distinction, I see no ambiguity.
We have a long and complex labyrinth of laws regarding what can and can not be collected to keep as a pet from our coastline...
Morally, ethically and philosophically when would you like?
For the purpose of the law though, the moment you took it into your care as a pet.
They are not being kept as pets, they are being stored before cooking.
Reef lobsters that are sold as pets are, obviously, pets to the law.
Those caught...
Dolphins are not fish and are not on the catch list for recreational fishing in the UK
Granted the way in which the Chinese catch dolphin is sickening but also a little outside the RSPCA's jurisdiction so not relevant to this topic ;).
Hang on there! Lets get this over with once...
I agree with you-and it is all fuel to the fire that the RSPCA are too political.
Fishing is not an issue as far as the law is concerned because they are catching wild fish, it has nothing to do with their place on the tree of life.
Pet,farmed and ornamental fish ARE all protected by the law...
If everyone was fully aware of the l the RSPCA would be unable to operate as they rely on people not knowing that the organisation has no power over them!
What we really need is a police division to deal with animal welfare.
They would be accountable to the public(unlike the...
Agree with that.
We have Great Danes, if they decide to be nasty they are capable of doing some real damage and one of them is a rescue with a less then ideal outlook thanks to her past treatment.
I won't walk her at "peak times" or let her off lead if we might come into contact with walkers...
While I feel for you and wish both you and your horse a speedy recovery from your injuries, I only have a resounding NO to this comment.
The vast majority of dog owners are a sensible lot who own well behaved family pets.
They will know their animal and not let it off lead when it is not...
Choline most certainly does, chloramine on the other hand does not but is just as dangerous to fish and most water boards use both.
As I said earlier, there may well be a safe level of carbon monoxide for humans, but would you risk it?
The vast majority of commercial dechlorineaters will bind...
A trough is in principle not really any different from a pond or tank.It is a container, if it is not made of lead, copper or any number of other metals that are harmful to the fish AND it has filtration AND the are fed.
My issue is with people like yourself who think the fish will somehow...
Ohhhh :( I am truly gutted- I normally go out of my way to befriend people with no respect for animals!
In moral terms, 100 dead and dying horses are no different to 100 dead and dying fish,if you have morals that is.
At what point does it stop being "just a fecking......" whatever it may be...
Because one group doing it wrong does not give everyone else carte blanche to do worse.
The preservation of standards (and where possible the raising of them by increasing our education on a subject) is all important when it comes to animal welfare.
The race to the bottom benefits no one- the...
Most hobbyists?
ROFL!
The hobby is one that takes itself seriously indeed,a lot of effort is put into our animals and they are most definatly not just a "thing" to save an annoying cleaning task.....
Now the basic rule of thumb(although not initself a fool proof formula) is that a fish need a...
I assume b catfish you mean pleco- this will not help clean your tank.
Sure, SOME do eat algae but ALL need supplemented feeding to stay healthy.
Please look at planer cat fish before buying anything- and remember that most of the commonly traded plecos will get big.
The common pleco starts...
