Would 100% recommend dan Wain - have sent my horse to him with great results. Lovely guy who works with horses in a very intelligent way, my horse was totaLly smitten with him
Can you get a sharer for one or two days a week to cover your increased livery costs? Must admit until recently I lived in london (albeit north london, on the border with Hertfordshire) and was paying £550 a month for full livery at a lovely yard so yours seems incredibly expensive!
I have a Comanche, I personally love those kinds of names for horses given the historical significance, albeit I worry sometimes about cultural appropriation (he came with this name long before people gave much thought to that!).
the worst names I’ve seen so far include Rooney (named after...
It’s doable but will cost her financially and socially, as I’d imagine any type of social life around that would be difficult, as would any kind of paid employment
I use a nettex spray that acts as a barrier against mud, but suspect most oils would do a similar thing. Then I brush mud off once it’s dry, usually only needed once a week or so as it slides off the oil, and we’re on clay soil.
I quite like my premier equine ones, though I do get annoyed about the fact that every pair of travel boots I’ve ever owned has always ended up cracking at the heel, often after little wear
I’m going to go against the grain - my welsh part bred is prone to porking out over the summer and is usually on soaked hay by now. Whilst he did initially get a little rounder after spring, he’s definitely lost it again and looks slimmer than he’d usually be at this time of the year, which I...
Woodhurst in Enfield? There’s also a place in northaw that did livery and had a good rep. Guy lodge in Enfield has decent facilities if you don’t mind restricted turnout in winter.
Mine didn’t like being mounted - nowhere near as extreme as yours but after several years of not getting anywhere with vet checks, back/saddle/teeth checks, we got him scanned and he turned out to have sacroiliac issues which were clearly causing him pain, but presented quite discretely.
I quite like Matt Harnacke and Jesse Drent - both seem really sweet and down to Earth. Erin Williams reminds me of why social media has had a terrible impact on this generation - despite being stunning you can tell she really lacks confidence and needs attention via social media/is narcissistic...
Mine has a few sarcoid around his armpits and his bits. He also started growing one on his face. I’ve had him since he was 1 so not a case of being able to pass over a purchase but since feeding him turmeric (the correct way with black pepper etc) the one on his face and one armpit have...
I’m quite lucky with mine as he’s more of a looker than a spinner or anything similar. He likes to stand with his head held high like a llama, scoping the ‘threat’ out. He doesn’t tend to spook at silly stuff but genuine unknowns (we find a lot of lost balloons in the woods!), though he can be...
why would you pay two sets of livery in summer? I did a law degree and took my horse to uni with me - he came back every summer and I just handed in my notice at my uni yard each time. There was one year where I had to move yard and one year where I had to move stable when I went back to uni...
