Horses that don't mind being left alone....?

I think most horses can learn to be alone for a short time - my mum just has the two and so one is left while the other goes out hacking etc. I think most of them get used to it eventually!

COVID rules on picking up horses

Not another Covid thread! We're in lockdown until March 8th, stay at home!! Picking up a horse is hardly "essential travel".

when do your cobs start moulting? :)

Mine is just starting - grey hairs everywhere!!

    New Horse Settling in.

I'm surprised at all the responses advising to hop straight on! When I got my horse I spent a month doing ground work and just getting our bond established on the ground, and we went on plenty of in-hand hacks so that by the time I started riding him he was completely relaxed. I would take it...

Pictures Is my mare in foal? No one knows...

How exciting! I would lean towards in foal from the earlier photos, but in the most recent ones it's harder to tell! As she gets nearer then the foal would move and the vet should be able to feel it again from about 9-10 months. Everything crossed for you!

    Any good fly rug recommendations?

I love the Rambo ones, and you can get waterproof liners for some of them too, which makes them really versatile. They fit both my cob and my TB really well.

    Aggressive neighbour - any advice?

Thank you so much everyone, I do feel so much better knowing I'm not over-reacting. I have hesitated in getting anyone involved as I just feel sorry for her, but you're right she is getting dangerous. We do have some video footage which the police have seen, they pretty much said that beyond...

    Newton Stud slurry death

All of the capital letters make it seem very aggressive and personal. The mish-mash I refer to is obvious - one minute you know all about the fire, and the next you're throwing questions out there etc. I think it's odd to act as though the stud staff would not have been affected by the fire at...

    Newton Stud slurry death

I can absolutely see that, which is why I said that people perhaps should stop if they haven't had a direct experience - it seems that almost no one on this thread has. Some of the comments on Facebook have been absolutely vile and completely unacceptable, regardless of what's happened. I don't...

    Newton Stud slurry death

Yes, I've read that, but it didn't seem to me that this meant that she was panicking at the time - I'm sure no one would have stood there and watched her gallop through the gate without doing anything?

    Newton Stud slurry death

India999, you seem very involved with this and your accusations and claims vary wildly. Your posts are really becoming quite aggressive which I fear might hinder people from believing or paying attention to your rants. Are you involved in some way? Your posts seem to be a mish-mash of...

    Back to training/Competitions

I have to admit I've been really enjoying doing online dressage with my cob. I started at Novice at the beginning of the first lockdown, and last week we scored 69% in an advanced! I think I'm going to just crack on with competing internationally as soon as we're allowed - I think that's in June?

    Newton Stud slurry death

I was under the impression it was a gate within a field, rather than from a road? It doesn't bear thinking about, but from what I read in the H&H story, the stud admitted liability straight away and the argument was only about the value of a (likely retired) horse? Although an absolutely...

    Newton Stud slurry death

Crellow4 - I have seen the odd complaint, but from what I can see they have several hundred horses so it seems normal that some would be ill/injured. I once read that 5% of all foalings go wrong! I certainly haven't seen any mention of "dozens and dozens" - can you elaborate? I have to say the...

    Newton Stud slurry death

You seem very well-informed about some parts of this story but then very confused about other bits. Were you involved in some way? Or is this just information gleaned from Facebook? I'm just not sure who to believe. I highly doubt the mare was not checked again for hours (perhaps someone who...
