Oo, PSSM isn't something I'd considered, though is something I looked into for my Welsh mare. Think I'm member of some of the FB groups so I'll have a looksee if I can see any mention of his breeding!
His liver also not something I considered, I guess this would show up in standard bloods...
Have deloused to no avail sadly :(
Definitely a vet job I think, but always like to have an idea of what to aim for specifically (i.e scoping, x-rays etc)...mostly to give myself an idea how much £££ I'm going to be down this time 😂😂😂
He's rising 6, and looks like a 2 year old in terms of both muscle and build! Looks awful :(
He has a dubious history 😂 Came from Ireland in 2024 to a riding school, where he was then sold on from very cheaply because he "wouldn't suit" once they started backing him. He was v sharp then. Sold...
Any thoughts on next steps for pony in question would be greatly appreciated! :)
Connemara
Very poor, ribby, obvious hips
Scabby/itchy everywhere
Dull coat
VERY reactive to everything (on ground and ridden, not currently safe to ride)
Seems to not have any problems eating - is getting chaff...
19 - Semi retired Connemara. Now just jack's primarily.
6 - Lightly backed, has some health challenges I'm trying to resolve before doing more.
5 - In light ridden work, which will hopefully step up through this year.
I started the year with a new horse and am ending it with another new horse 😅😂 So for next season I'm looking to get them out and about seeing the world, but I have no idea what classes I should aim for. Would only be unaffiliated and for fun/exposure.
Victim number one:
4yr old 15.2 ISH...
Thanks everyone! Seems like straw pellets are worth a shot.
The roof is a pain, it's a super tall barn so difficult to get up to the roof and can't go on top of the roof as would 100% fall through 🙈 Realistically, it needs replacing but that won't be this winter or next so will have to make do!
Hi all!
I'm trying to get organised for bringing in overnight next month and one thing I've been procrastinating about is bedding...
Ideally need to cover the below, if anyone has any suggestions I'd be super grateful:
- Cope with damp/leaky roof (i.e not shavings as they aren't absorbent...
