I have a mare by Power Blade out of a Clover Hill mare. She's had a foal by an ID who has turned out to be quite stocky (although lovely) and I am thinking that I would like to put her to something finer, with a high proportion of tb. I'm looking to breed an eventer (for an amateur to...
I have a mare by Power Blade out of a Clover Hill mare who is absolutely fantastic. She will jump anything both SJ and XC and is a brilliant hunter - good looking and lovely to do as well. Great news he's coming here for UK breeders.
My horse is exactly like this. She is the most mannerly creature otherwise (and hitting her would NOT work at all as she is already a bit nervous) but doesn't like to put a foot on the ramp at all. We now keep out of her way. Think it's a good idea to try coming out backwards though.
You mustn't worry about people thinking you are feeble - you are being sensible.
I have been in exactly the same position but with dealer who was not at all keen to have horse back. He did eventually and we have got an absolute sweetie in exchange. Very green and not what we were originally...
I always travel fully tacked up - it can be a nightmare trying to put kit on overexcited horses. Would def recommend you put at least bridle on under headcollar. If you can you should put hair in hairnet to make it tidy. Have a great time.
You can of course contact Trading Standards (and I think I still will as it makes me cross to think that this guy is going to go on and do the same to someone else) but in my case I really really didn't want to be left with a horse that I considered dangerous but in which I had invested a lot of...
Thought you might like to know how I got on. Wrote letter stating facts to dealer who then got colleague to call me to say that yes there was a horse arriving from Ireland in the week that might be OK as a replacement for the one that reared up with me but it would cost quite a lot more. We...
You're right - prob too much to do straight away with it - maybe it just needs more time. My old vet vetted it and will get bloods tested but I can't believe it was doped at yard although of course maybe it was. Also maybe it is one of those that can't take hunting but that's not what I want -...
Exercised before which journey - sorry if I'm being thick. We did try it out for a hour and a half at his premises and it behaved very well and yes. had a 5 stage vetting which it passed with no probs.
Thank you so much everyone for your advice and good to feel I'm not alone. It's all a bit of...
It was fit and looked very well too. Tried it once for about an hour and a half on their premises - should have done more and gone back again and taken it somewhere else (with the benefit of hindsight....)
