Help! Eskadron control headcollar any good.

I use one and it's great. My horse is great 99% of the time but having had a bit of my spine removed I can't afford anything dragging me about and this just stops him boiling over on the odd occassion he would like to.

    Asking too much?

My lad isn't the bravest hacking alone but is the best xc horse I could ever hope for. So reluctant to hack solo doesn't always equate to won't go xc, but I suspect mine is a rare exception. Also don't under estimate how difficult it is to keep an event horse fit that won't hack alone.

Horse passed vetting but has arthritis

Oh my god, why does something always have to be someone else's fault...if I were a vet I think I would be tempted to fail every horse I was asked to vet just to stop some miffed buyer trying to sue me almost a year later. It's a horse. They all break one way or the other in the end.

    Hacking "schooling" yorkshire

I would like to send my youngster away for a month to a professional yard for hacking. The hacking from our yard is very limited and on busy roads and, whilst she is good to hack, I would like her to experience more variety and get out and see more. Realistically, if I load her up and take her...

With £130,000 plus in prize money...

Am guessing this is a successful racehorse (don't follow racing so clueless) but goes to show that conformation isn't everything....when he has retired from racing he could give beach rides - you could.get half a dozen kids on that back at once!

Getting Through The Festive Period As A Work Rider

Love reading your tales from track EKW, thank you for posting them.

    Fibromyalgia

I am supposed to have fibro but not convinced. In any case, your symptoms don't seem entirely typical of fibro. However I wouldn't mention it to your Doctor as Fibro tends to be thought of as the "bucket diagnosis" meaning that it's often what they determine you have when they can't figure it...

Horse leaning back/ thinking ulcers - 3rd post

I do agree with AA that it's time to listen to the vet and not the forum but please do let us know the outcome OP, as it will be useful learning for myself and probably some others who have read your threads.

    Horse failed vet wwyd

If it failed trotting a tight circle on hard ground I would ask the vet for their views as to how bad it was. I suspect a high percentage of horses are lame to some degree on this test.

    Eskadron control headcollar

Damn it, I never thought of that. I wonder do you think the hunt will pop past at my request so I can train my horse not to get excited by them being next to his yard? Edited to add - should I start off asking for the whole pack of hounds and full field of followers or maybe just get my...

    Horse rocking backwards in field

My little gelding did this when he got very old. It was as though he was asleep standing up but the balance mechanism that stopped him falling over wasn't working properly. He would sort of slow motion rock his weight backwards like a dog going to sit, then "catch" himself, wake up and stand up...

    Eskadron control headcollar

Yes terrible - far better to let ourselves get yarked around by 500kg of over excited horse.

    Eskadron control headcollar

I rate mine. Had it years. The chain rusts a bit as it gets left by the field entrance. On the odd occassion my big lad has lost the plot (like.when the hunt have come past) it has made all the difference. Obviously not safe to tie up in though.

    Baffled

Does he lead o.k from the bridle without anything on his back even if you hold the reins in the position they would be in if ridden? I can't help thinking this is more likely to be back/saddle related than bridle to be honest.
