My horse had quite a grisly sarcoid under her tummy. Vet treated it with Liverpool cream, my horse didn't mind, no side effects, the sarcoid disappeared and there has been no recurrence 7 years on.

I use one all the time on my mare as she has a tendency to do a spook/leap/bronc combo which is rather unpleasant. I instinctively grab the neck strap and I find it stops my hands from flying up into the air and keeps me anchored to the saddle. Saved my bacon many a time.

Ive had my grasmeres for about 7 years, the most comfy and hard wearing boots ever! I've never used a boot horn either. I've also never cleaned or treated them. They only started to leak last winter, but they are looking a bit worse for wear now! I'm going to buy another pair soon.

I'm not an expert but it's my understanding that tow bars all have to be within a set height range whatever the type of car it is, so maybe check the height of your tow bar? Also check how much weight your trailer is putting on your tow ball and check it's within the maximum your car can handle.
