    Livery costs

We’ve rented our yard out to one of our former liveries, and he’s charging £50 per week for diy. The yard has American style barn with hot/cold water, solarium, 70x30 outdoor, lunge area/all weather turnout, horse walker, individual paddocks, secure tack room, trailer/lorry parking. Hacking is...

What is a 'normal' age to lose a horse?

It’s been interesting seeing the replies to this. Mine have been: 4 - WB - severe tendon injury (in field) 6 - TB - racing injury (on track) 8 - TB - leg injury (from racing, retired & arthroscopy done which showed unfixable issues) 10 - PRE - severe arthritic changes Have a 22 yr old TB...

    Dangerous charity

Just did, seems I have now been booted from the group. Funny that, I never comment on anything either ??‍♀️

    Dangerous charity

The woman on the dodgy dealer fb group has just posted a load of screenshots of messages between herself and Leo’s original owner. I totally agree with Rowreach, it all needs to be kept off any form of social media. Hope there’s a good outcome for the horse at the end of it all.

    Horse tail growth recommendations

If you can get hold of MTG it may be worth a try. We used to use it on the show horses and they always had super long tails, but they were also in a plait and left up unless they were competing.

Most interesting comment from a dressage judge?

Got my friends horse all turned out for her comp, first comment on her sheet - nice plaits. :D she did quite well & had some good comments, but we still giggle about that random one.

    Feeling pretty miffed off

I had a girl at ours who had an 18hh CBx. The horse kept jumping out if the field, going for other horses, and in general became dangerous. She was asked to leave, pronto! Why hasn't the YO/YM done anything to remedy the situation if the horse is causing so many injuries to others? Hope...

    Am I losing the plot??

I do hope that would be the case! My loan horse was down with colic last weekend, rang vet straight away & rang his owner while waiting for vet to come to let her know. Just seems common sense really to get horse treated if needs be rather than wait for owners permission? Hope you find out...

    Feeling of impending doom

This. If you're able to go over & check, then do so. Might be nothing, but your gut feeling might also be spot on.

    hitting my horse

So what's he being hit while being brought in, as you suggest in your original post, or while in stable? Bit confused. Either way, unless the other persons safety was in question, she should not have been hitting the horse.

    I've just killed a pony

So sorry! Big hugs to you all. I left a horse in cross ties to walk up the barn isle while waiting for the vet, was gone less than 2 minutes & came back to horse with massive fresh gash in his leg. I know it's not much consolation, but it happens. Don't be too hard on yourself!

Calm and Condition - horse a bit loopy!

Had a TB on it, went absolutely loopy. Took him off it, went back to normal. Also knew another horse on it, TBx, who was the same. I've got my current horse (another TB) on top spec cool conditioning cubes & mollichaff conditioning, which is putting weight on without turning him into a big spaz.

It's blowing a gale out there! In or out?

All are in. The pony got blown into the garden earlier (little miss Houdini noticed a rail down and made most of it), guess the TB & hackney were too heavy to move!
