I looked at changing my car recently and an XC60 was on the list. You definitely need the diesel one. The XC90 is much bigger and would carry a lot of stuff. In the end l decided to stick with 3.5 Horsebox and a smaller car.
You can enter most county shows if you want to go for a (nice) day out. For some classes you will have to be registered with one of the societies and your pony will also need to be registered. Maybe have a look at the showing register, they have lots of info on their website and seem to try and...
Following on from the question regarding acreage required when buying a house to keep ponies or horses at home, there are some very ‘entitled’ comments. So, who keeps their horse at livery, at home or by some other means.
I agree you need at least 2 acres of well drained land to be able to keep 2 ponies but l certainly don’t agree that it’s cheaper to keep at at livery than at home! You haven’t said how much livery is but for full livery most places seem to be between £150 and £300 a week. Add on additional costs...
Well done! Maybe consider looking for a shirt with a stiffer collar? Tesco/Sainsbury/M&S all have cheap school shirts which fit adults and are reasonably priced used to be about £5. You need a shirt designed to accommodate a tie.
I have some isobaa socks, the leg part is fine 😀 sadly the heels don’t seem to stand up to boots although they could probably be darned if my granny was still around!
45 mins is too long if you re starting with a youngster. It may suit the trainer but it’s not the best plan for a young horse. Far better to do anything between 10 and 20 mins frequently than a longer session a couple of times a week. Once they’re older / have been ridden for a while 4 or 5...
Brown has always been traditional. Black may be easier to resell as it’s often a cheaper quality leather, l can’t recall black ever being a majority choice unless for a specialized activity. Well cared for quality tack will sell more easily than inferior brands, black tends to fade over time.
Fiona Cork, Saddle Exchange, and Fylde Ray are in my collection of saddles. You need a good saddle fitter who will spend time making sure the saddle fits you and your pony.
Unless she has had a foal before 20 is leaving it too late. Some mares foal as 4 or 5 year olds and then go on to have a ridden career before going back in foal. As well as risks of a first foal the success rate as mares age isn’t always very high so you could end up with a large bill and...
