Good Luck for this weekend, sounds like you're pretty ready now, i'm just worried about these storms heading our way!
I am aiming to get out with my new mare this weekend too after a few outings i had to withdraw due to abscess and then the weather stopped us getting out last weekend!
I bought a hay grazer for my trailer (when they were half price!) so I didn't have to keep swapping hay nets around and does seem to stop as much going on the floor!
When I bought one of mine he loaded like a dream to come home and then again the first time i took him to a xc practice, thinking i would have no problem. To get him home though he planted and we were there for ages, he didn't want to leave the other horses!
I did some homework with a Monty...
Definitely better this year, our field got 13 square bales last year and we have just had baled 15 rounds this year (and the rounds a little bigger han the squares) so definitely a thicker crop this year!
I'd imagine they coulddo it as the ball cock acts the same as toilet cistern to switch the water 'off' or mine do at least.
My bf did ours and he's no plumber so I'm pretty sure a plumber could do it if explained what you need and at what height etc.
Give him some time to settle, it could all just be a bit much for him if it's still so new, his routine and herd will have changed all at once. My gelding was a total stress head when I brought him home, but he had gone from living in a herd outside 24/7 to being 'at home' with my other horse...
My mare can be rather flighty in this wind, it's so much fun...not! I have taken to leading my two out separately (I know i should do this all the time really), I wear a hat, gloves, lead her in a control headcollar, and perhaps consider a lunge line so even if they do 'get away from you' a...
All mine are naked by day and at night have either a 0 fill on one and 100g on my clipped TB at night.
The shetlands do not own a rug! They really need to lose their shaggy winter coats!
They may surprise you, both of mine have had box rest at some point in their life and one in particular who I thought would be an absolute nightmare turned out to be pretty good, plenty of hay and company (I alternated his overnight usual company with a shetland during the day) stabled next...
It can be really sore and I found when I washed with hibiscrub it did make mine very sore indeed. Previous to that I had tried lots of different creams and potions (not all at once i may add!) Manuka honey, Aromaheel, pig oil, Nixoral shampoo, some actually seemed to make it worse!
When my...
Yep this is about right. My mare had a course of 4 injections spaced a week apart. Add in half price area visit each time and was easily over £200 per injection
Yep harrowed on Thursday and rolled today. On clay so have to seize the opportunity when ground is just right! Rain due later this week and well into double figures temperature wise so should bring the winter field back nicely!
