My horse can be a bit of a pain to catch in the summer so wears a leather head collar. He’s just broken his one (that’s probably about 7 or 8 years old) so am looking for a new one. Has anyone used a breakaway field safe one? Looking at the Le Mieux breakaway one but wondering if I was to catch...
I’ve got a 20 yr old Tb & all of the situations you have said about would set him off most winters & he definitely would not be ok in an individual field even with others around him. Even now, after owning him for over 10 years, I don’t always turn him out if windy & I can’t leave him out last...
they’re advertised to be ok out in the mud but with mega wet/muddy gateways they do become a bit saturated... perhaps a good barrier under the sock would help.. I don’t know, It’s a bit trial & error for us atm.
They are fab, worked wonders on my Tb, although vet thinks it’s an auto immune disorder rather than mud fever but symptoms are the same. I’ve just posted a thread though as struggling using them in the muddy/wet field at the mo with a turnout boot over the top. My boy’s leg needs protecting...
My 20 year old tb has had mud fever type scabs for the past two summers, vet looked at him & thinks it’s probably Leucocytoclastic vasculitis. As it’s quite minor & only affects one of his pasterns & it’s not a huge area, it’s just above the coronet band. The vet thinks it’s best to just keep...
Thanks for your reply. The boots on amazon were still coming from the us & barnstormers have discontinued the boot... but I managed to get hold of one second hand in facebook & I reckon the lump has already reduced in size by about a third so im going to keeep using it and carry on with cold...
My tb is developing a capped Elbow. He has always had thicker skin on & off in that area but I have never worried about it. I only noticed this around a week ago and it's sort of the size of a prune or apricot. Has anyone got any experience with this? I've been looking into getting a good boil...
My Tb has developed a patch of dry hard skin on the back of the very top of his front legs behind his shoulder. He had it years ago & then it went on its own but has now returned.
It's not causing him any discomfort and the hair isn't falling out, I can just feel it. Does anyone know what this...
To be honest, it's reassurance that putting to sleep is the tight decision, I think in my heart the decision is already made, I just want to know that others would do the same.
Thank you all for your replies.
I have a 10 year old bichon fries who I rehomed as a 3 1/2 year old. Initially, she was a very nervous little thing but very soon became the most perfect little companion.
A few years ago she was diagnosed with an auto immune disorder which makes her immune system attack her paw pads...
Totally get this!!! My boy is just the same, 5 mins too long & im going to pay for it bringing him in! He's the only one who does this on a large yard of about 65 horses.
