Thanks for the advice. He had a case of laminitis once when he was a youngster (I dont know how severe it was) he is 12 now and has never had a case since, but I've only had him since October so want to make sure it stays that way! He's not over weight, he has happy hoof with high fibre cubes...
My new horse is prone to laminitis, I was just wondering whether along with keeping him on restricted grazing, do I need to restrict his hay intake also?
I hadn't thought about that! The saddle was fitted for him but by his previous owner so I don't know what sort of numnah it was fitted for. Maybe I will stick with a regular numnah!
Can anyone advise as to whether it is best to go for a full sheepskin numnah with lots of padding or to go for a half pad for use with a regular numnah? My horse doesn't have any back problems I just want something that is going to prevent any back problems and something that is comfy for him...
