Thank you all for your responses, this has put my mind at ease a bit! Originally because the swelling was so huge they did think it was collateral ligament damage so I think the scare factor got me

My vet said he can resume usual activities after being brought back into work slowly but I have zero experience with it. I don't feel right doing as much as I was doing before - swelling doesn't just occur for no reason? Surely

My horse has gone in today for a tooth extraction (molar tooth in his upper jaw/cheek) It is a question I will ask my vet but just wondered in other peoples experience, providing the extraction goes smoothly, how soon was you able to ride? TIA

All I know is it is a valve muscle issue where it is not closing and the blood is rushing back and it's the valve that leaks into the lungs?

Because he was vetted upon being shipped over from Ireland with a clear heart and my vet has advise it would be from what he ate, it caused a massive strain on his body and two other horses unfortunately didn't make it
