The field will not cope with leaving them out. And I have no field shelter. I wouldn't put one out due the wind here being really bad, I've seen even the most tied down shelters go flying.
I'll stop the carrots tonight! I'll also look at the magnesium thing!
I have a Welsh A mare. In the summer she is an angel! She grows wings and is the most lovely, sweetest pony! In the winter, she is Satan reincarnated, and I'm absolutely terrified of her!
In the summer, we go out for lovely walks in hand, and she is calm and gentle. I cannot do that in winter...
I ride and lead most of the time as I'm only a happy hacker and mine and husbands pony suffer from separation anxiety so it just makes life so much easier! I always have hi viz on myself and both horses (in case we part company then there is not a non hi viz horse loose on the roads!) Mine wear...

I went to a university 45 minutes away from home so kept her on Diy and commuted daily. I worked evenings and weekends waitressing and was a film extra on my days off and during holidays. Got her in my second year of university and had her 10 years now!
I just got a vet bill for £350 for what essentially turned out to be an over dramatic horse with thrush/abscess!
She was on 3 legs and wouldn't move so I panicked and rang the vet. Out of hours it was too! Typical! If only I had known that a hot poultice and a visit from the farrier was all...
