Could we have a disabled riders board?

Would really appreciate that. It is easy to feel isolated when you see young, healthy riders. There are plenty of the other variety out there....

The love of the countryside by the non rural public

Four oldish walkers on a restricted byway, ladies wearing sandals. My Fell stopped to say a friendly hello, walkers cowered in a gateway saying I should not be riding on a "footpath". Pony refused to budge, walkers refused to pass him as they "did not want to be kicked". Pony still refusing...

We came down on the road today :(

This happened to me, completely out of the blue, at walk. My foot was trapped under the pony, resulting in a lisfranc injury ie multiple fractures and dislocations of four toes. Surgery and three and a half months off work was no fun. Pony was fine, ambled off to eat grass while I dragged...

Help - pony eating straw pellets!

Thanks for all your comments. I dampened the mare's bed and the pellets have broken down nicely, she does not seem interested in eating her bed. I find mucking out a doddle, so little to remove and no digging around in disgusting slimy, smelly straw. Cannot wait to get the gelding off straw...

Help - pony eating straw pellets!

Have finally given up on straw after many years. Where I live now I struggle to buy it, transport it, dispose of it. After much research (here and elsewhere) I thought straw pellets would be the answer. Last night I put the mare's bed down, she chewed a few so I gave extra hay plus some...

    Sandy Lane Equestrian?

I had a few lessons at Sandy Lane when my pony was out of action a couple of years ago. I found them really helpful, they found me a super cob to ride and were not afraid to tell an ancient rider how to improve.

Getting A Little Older, what do you hate the most?

Sorry you have RA at 48. I am 59 and have had it for five years. Not much fun. My new start in life was buying a 3.5 box after my parents died and I was free to do all the things with my pony that I had been unable to. Brute refused to load and RA started. Sold the box after five years as...

    Baby Oil for horses...?

Also not a good idea to use it on the feathers when waiting for the farrier. My Fell nearly went up in flames when the hot shoe arrived. Farrier muttered about my stupidity..........
