Jack Thomas Watson isn’t far from them. I have heard much better things about him than I have of north east sports horses (think he’s called Gav Hetherton or something similar)
might be worth contacting him if you are looking in that area.
I've just bought a lovely 4yo ISH (TIH) her pedigree is mainly ID, she has 11.7% TB blood.
Her dam is ISH, who was sired by an ID out of another ISH.
I'm very pleased with her so far she has a lovely temperament and a nice fine head.
She is grey though
I don't compete but I can give you my rough costs for DIY in the north west
Stable rent £110 pcm
Hay 15p per pound (have to weigh nets)
Bedding £9 for shavings on site (price recently increased)
Muck collection £2 per month
Turn out/bring in £1 each way.
My best guestimate I'd say £200-£300...
I had mine PTS by injection with sedation as an emergency due to colic, by my vet who had known him a long time.
He'd had a seizure so was already laying on the ground, but as horrible a situation it was, I was able to stroke his lovely as he slipped away.
It was as peaceful as it could have...
My old boy was a grumpy soul in the stable around food. He didn't appreciate you being in his stable once his food was in there, and would also protest with ears back and grumpy faces if you didn't tie his hay net up as quickly as he would like.
He was such a safe horse to ride. Pretty...
Yeah there is a weigh hook next to the big bales of hay so we just fill the net, weigh and write down on our livery sheet each day what we’ve taken.
There is a lot of trust involved and YO never spot checks. But then we are an honest bunch.
I know this system wouldn’t work at a lot of places...
I wouldn't include hay/haylage either. My YO charges by the lb for hay. Currently 15p per lb which I think helps keep wastage down. We have sheets and we write down how much we've used each day, I find it works well. But we're a nice yard and no one takes the mick putting down less than they've...
This sounds very similar to the horse I had vetted last week. I was totally gutted when the vet said it was lame on a small circle. I guess the issue is yeah, lots of people want a similar horse to me but the amount available doesn't meet the demand! I think this is why I am also feeling really...
Hi again, sorry I've posted quite a few threads recently.
I lost my old boy about 6 weeks ago, and have been looking for a new friend since.
My budget is up to £7500 which I thought would be reasonable. I'm really struggling to even find anything under this price, let alone something...
The horse was 7 years old and asking price of £8000. The vet wasn’t my usual vet and wasn’t asked what the price tag was (this my first experience of having a vetting done)
If it was half that price then yes maybe but I figured it’s a lot of money to spend on something that is showing potential...
