    Alternative to Copra?

Hi Auslander, may I ask you which grass nuts you recommend please? I have never used them before and my local feed shop only had baileys alfalfa nuts when I asked for grass nuts. Thank you

    Alternative to Copra?

Thanks Auslander, I did wonder if I was overdoing it a bit and therefore everything going straight through! Will drop it back, buy some grass nuts/oats as a standby and see how we go. Especially as her workload has reduced. I am used to keeping porky ponies, much easier! Thanks

    Alternative to Copra?

Thank you both. I have used Linseed with her before and didn't find it as good at getting/keeping on condition as it had been for previous horses. Perhaps I will try halving the copra and replacing with oats or grass nuts then and see how we go.... thanks!

Haas brushes...I guess you could say he's kind of shiny!

I love these brushed! I was very skeptical brushes could make that much of a difference but they really do. They are superb quality, lovely to hold and use and they do make my coloured really shine. I got the grey pack as she is more white than brown!

    Alternative to Copra?

Hi All, My 17hh IDX Mare has done well on Copra this summer, alongside equimins balancer. She is currently on 1 scoop (dry weight, I soak it) twice daily. She is now in over night with ad lib hay and out during the day on fair grazing. My job is due to change and I am taking a look at...

Hi All, Was hoping for some advice on how to get ride of moss. I have a couple of small paddocks lined with trees and the moss is taking over under the trees. How would I get rid of the moss if I had access to a tractor/farmer help? Equally, the paddocks are quite small, would it be...

Is there anything you actually prefer cheaper versions/brands of

I agree with woof wear boots, they just do what they need to do! I will happily buy cheaper stable rugs but buy the best quality turnouts I can, even if that's secondhand.

    hay container for field

I just use a big container, like a tub trug but tougher that I bought from a local DIY store with a couple of bricks in the bottom. Then watch as my mare looks me in the eye and pulls all the hay out next to the container and eats it from there!!

    Yard Politics

Ok. I edited as I thought better of it and didn't want to sidetrack the OP's thread. I see your point above regarding them needing to communicate with you. However, 20.5 hours is not overnight in my book. I would say not being turned out/mucked out until 12:30 is more likely to be the reason the...

I too think you absolutely had a right to be very annoyed and upset. I would have found it hard to hold my temper but perhaps stern as opposed to screaming would have been better. Hindsight is always a wonderful thing mind!
