    Cheap shavings or megazorb?

We aren't allowed to use straw and I hate it anyway. We had to use it at my old stables and would never use it again. I haven't heard of those shavings, I will have a google of them. Thanks

    Cheap shavings or megazorb?

I can't decide wether to try megazorb again or go back to cheap shavings. I have been through quite a few beddings for my horses over the years. I am currently using laysoft for my TB but I'm finding it very heavy and have tennis elbow now from it. I go through 3 a week so it is now not working...

    Itchy horse

Thanks. He has been wormed for pin worms following vets advice and she didn't think it looked like anything mite related (which I'm guessing a skin scrape would show). I have bought new feed today and am pretty convinced this is the cause after BethH experiencing the same thing with SS. I'll...

    Itchy horse

Thank you. I was looking into Allan & page before SS so will probably go down that road. He is on 1 bute (danilon) a day for his arthritis anyway. I know nothing about being barefoot really, think I need to look into they! He has only had his fronts off too oir about 6 weeks now (hinds off a...

    Itchy horse

Ahh what a nightmare you have had!! Yes I think I will email them tomorrow to find out if they have heard of it before. Seems to much of a coincidence not to be the same issue. Sounds exactly the same reaction. My boy too is now barefoot after my farrier of 14 years give up and I just can't find...

    Itchy horse

Thanks BethH, that is interesting. Pain in the arse too as I've just stocked up on £50 worth! Ahhh. I was trying my hardest to get him onto a natural feed as possible but maybe I have done more damage than good. :-( Boo hoo.

    Itchy horse

Yes but only a light weight and he isn't getting too hot or sweaty or anything. I have left his rug off as much as poss over the last few weeks but it doesn't seem to make any difference

    Itchy horse

My 20yo TB has become really really itchy over the last month-6 weeks. I had the vey out a couple of weeks ago who tested for cushings, told me to de-worm him, gave me 10 days of piriton (which finished yesterday) and an anti fungal/antibacterial body wash which I did 2 weeks ago on Friday. Vet...

    Glucosamine allergy?

That's good to read tiddlypom. Thanks tnavas, it does seem extremely uncommon for a horse to have a reaction to it.

    Glucosamine allergy?

That is interesting tiddlypom. My boy had a bout of spasmodic colic a couple of years ago (on Boxing Day!) and I don't wish to repeat that! He also seemed more 'itchy/agitated' by the flies while he was on it. Think I will knock it on the head then. I just started him on simple systems feeds and...

    Glucosamine allergy?

Sorry to hear about your mare, it's heartbreaking to lose a horse. My Arab broke his leg in the field. I have spoken to the manufacturer of suppleaze and they said they have never heard of it before but are happy to swap it for an MSM supplement. I don't really like the idea of a herbivore...

    Glucosamine allergy?

I tried my horse on maxaflex but after 3 weeks and all his legs swelling up twice the size of normal, I decided it was best to stop. I thought it was the green lipped mussel in it so decided to start him on suppleaze gold. One leg (back of the knee) has swollen a bit but I can't decide if he has...

    Mollichaff, good or bad?

Unfortunately dengie use rapeseed oil. Just double checked the hi if molasses free one and it does have rapeseed in it. Surprisingly, lots of the big brands do!

    Mollichaff, good or bad?

Thanks. I use to use TopSpec balancer and chop till they reduced the size by 1/4 and I don't think it's worth about £40 a month. Dengie put rapeseed oil in all their chaff so that's a no no. Simple solutions looks good but not sure I want just alfalfa as that can make his legs swell sometimes...
