    What jobs fit around horses?

I love that someone else in the CS works from the yard, my colleagues call it my satellite office. I’ve got WiFi there for my stable camera so just use that and it’s often better than my home WiFi, but the flexibility allows me to be there for my horse when I need to be and I get so much work done

    What jobs fit around horses?

Civil service , I work 7-3 most days and wfh officially two days a week but the office is only 10 minutes away anyway so no biggie to go in plus office is close to a tack shop so it actually helps me to go in when I need feed etc. In winter whether I am in the office or at home I usually take...

    Fly spray application game changer

Yeah have a look it’s very handy as with the gel I get through loads but with the liquid at least you can buy in bulk and save a bit of money and the sponge allows it to spread a bit. In the summer I can go through a bottle of phaser every week which is rather painful as we’re now at near £20 a...

    Fly spray application game changer

As the owner of a veteran who has always hated sprays I was so excited last year when they brought out power phaser in a rollerball. This summer I bought the big 2.5 litre bottle and planned to just refill the rollerballs. Annoyingly the balls kept falling out, then a few weeks ago I discovered...

    Encouraging a horse to drink!

Horse quencher is absolutely amazing but can be hard to get hold of, I think horse health sell it and a couple others. It got us through the really hot spells last year with our oldies. I bought a uk made product this year , the name escapes me at the moment that’s meant to encourage them to...

What to expect - first time hunting

It was very well controlled and not carnage at all. The next time hacking she was fine, we did two more hunts with them and she was fine then too, yes there are speedy bits but there’s also plenty of waiting around too and they really looked after us we had a fantastic time. If you can’t get...

Getting a horse used to nasty smells!

Nothing helpful to add but this post reminded me of a time when in my previous job as a wine delivery driver. I delivered some wine for the puppy show at a local hunt and a few days later collected the stuff they didn’t use. It was white wine and they had kept it in the “cold store”. I had to...

Hay feeders for in the stable

I love my haylo, it comes with various grills for slowing down eating but we use it without as she’s ad lib. You can soak in it too if you want.

Fly masks - wide / good eye clearance

I struggled for ages trying to find one with good eye clearance and the only ones I’ve found are the Rambo beekeeper and Equilibrium masks. She wears the equilibrium one most of the time but has the Rambo as her back up just as the equilibrium fits her so perfectly that there is no risk of a fly...

Using a garden hose for field water is it safe

I have mdpe (blue pipe) for most of the distance to the field but when we need to get it I even further I have hoses and they are perfectly fine. I always think on yards you can’t have too many taps and mdpe is so easy to install especially if you use speedfit connections. The only issue I ever...
