Everybody else on the yard has been very supportive of me and Jambo. I won't rush in to anything straight away. My farrier is due to do his feet tommorrow which always makes him more comfy so there is no urgent panic.
I am going to speak to my YO about my feelings and see if she will make "a...
I really can't believe how similar our horses seem. Jambo has been on cortaflex for a long time and was always very fidgity when kept in. Makes you wonder if they can be fidgity simply because of being uncomfortable.
The vet said in July I could up his bute to 2 a day but it could only be...
Thanks Sue, you are also right about the other livery. Normally such people don't faze me in the slightest but I am really sensitive at the minute anyway. At least everybody else on the yard is lovely.
Roswita, I am sorry for your loss. You are right about the memories. It took me quite a while...
Thanks for your kind reply.
It is ironic the similarities we have as from your sig your horse looks really like mine. Jambo is a 16.2hh BWB chestnut with close to identical face markings.
I know you are right, it is just so hard to face up to. It seems to be one thing to talk about it and...
I'm feeling really bad at the minute and am really struggling with a dreadful decision.
Jambo is 24 now and is currently steadily going downhill. I got him when he was 10 and I was 13, two years down the line he needed an operation on his leg and whilst he was away he got xrayed and was...
I have seen a horse advertised in the Netherlands that I really like the look of, he is a 3 year old out of ferro:
www.staldeborgelink.nl
Have any of you any experience of buying from over there?
What do you think of this horse, he is priced at 8000 euros / £5300
Thanks
Just wanted to add, I wish I had known about this forum when we were going through all of this as we felt very isolated. I can see from this post that lots of people have sadly been affected by this.
MrMagoo I hope that you get to the bottom of what is wrong with your horse, I think that was...
I have personal experience of this as my aunty lost her horse to this illness earlier on this year. PM me if you would like me to talk through our experience.
In terms of the op, from the research my aunty did it isn't readily available in the UK, although I think surgeons visit from the US...
We used it while I was at uni and my dad had to manage two on his own!
We used straw (had very very big stables though). We did it by the following:
1) Put a huge bed in.
2) Take out all poos every day but no wee
3) Put fresh straw in daily
4) Regularly clear all the wet out disinfect and...
I have only heard worrying things to be honest including abcesses, lameness following shoeing etc. However, as some people are reporting good results I guess that it may be down to who is doing the shoeing! Personally I'd rather stick to normal shoes with a good farrier (my horse was diagnosed...
Mine is on 1 sachet bute a day (although has navic too), cortaflex, garlic and cod liver oil.
Cortaflex is the only joint supplement I have ever used with noticeable results.
I have just bought a pair of derby house ones (£20)
They were really good today although his legs were a bit sweaty after having worm them all day so will have to see how we go on.
