Hello, I recently bought my first horse last year in July. Wasn't too bothered on her history as she was sound and well suited and just wanted a basic horse to enjoy, nothing fancy. But recently I've been curious and would LOVE to know her history!
Her previous owner didn't know all that...
If you have access to it I swear by shredded paper... I put a base layer down and cover/mix in with straw - makes the straw go a lot further and is good with the wet - especially with no matting. Be careful where you get it from though as some have staples left in. I shred loads at work so I am...
Hello, I had this problem for months. Never did her any harm mind but annoyed me no end! I would try putting a whole bale of hay in with her and see how much your horse eats. Mine did about a half bale so have been giving her that much ever since in two haynets which are double netted.. seems to...

Find a loan horse!! Explain the situation... I guarentee you may get on another horse for the first time and feel sad but you'll soon recover the love for the sport!!
Be brave and get back into it :)
to own/wear: (If you're serious, I would start by purchasing these instead of hiring from Riding school.)

- jodphurs/breeches
- jodphur boots - short are easier for beginners.

I am a novice myself after recently buying my own horse in May. I have had a few lessons at a local riding school over the years (very sparse due to being at uni) but most of my knowledge and experience was gained through actually having an interest in the sport and horses. I read SO many books...
In relation to the hay I was in the same predicament... No matter what she would eat her straw bed and it wound me up big time so I just stuck a whole bale of hay in with her to see what she did... it took her about two days to eat it so I would say base it on half a bale a day initially and see...
