No baby. That’s kind of you to say though. Medical condition which is making riding a thing of the past at the moment. Just completely fed up to my back teeth. Had so much time away from my horses with breast cancer. Finally got back in the saddle and managed to ride again after a long rocky...

Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

I’m in a situation where I’ve now not ridden for several months, no fault of my horses. He’s safe as houses. I’ve searched for loaners/sharers and had nightmare people. A part of me thinks I should sell him as he’s wasted but I know I’ll be met with suspicion as to why he’s out of work now. I...

Loose poo solved by feeding hay from floor???

Hopefully she won’t suffer loose poos but if she does it’s definitely worth trying.

Loose poo solved by feeding hay from floor???

I wonder if that was the cause of your mares runny poo too. I’ve found it quite interesting, sadly! Horses are designed to graze with their heads down. I’ve always netted to slow them down and stop wastage. No more!!!

Loose poo solved by feeding hay from floor???

I thought it was interesting which is why I posted. It could potentially help another horse who suffers with no medical or diet reason. He’s cost me a fortune trying to sort it. I’ve had him 6 years and it’s progressively got worse. It’s lovely not having to wash his white socks, legs and tail too!!

What time do you finish your horses off at night?

10pm is the last hay. Same as you the older I get the harder it’s getting. Live out 24/7 at home. No grass due to being natives and two with cushings. Winter time all I want to do really is go bed

Loose poo solved by feeding hay from floor???

I’ve battled for years with Dakota having loose poos. It came to a head a few months ago when he started getting fecal water syndrome. Over the years the vet has been unable to find anything medically wrong. Diet has been changed along with trying every known supplements to the human race. A few...

    Rain Ranting Thread

I’ve had more than enough and never felt so close to throwing the towel in. I’ve not ridden since Christmas now either. The limited dry days it’s either been icy, gales, or I’ve been trying to do repairs. Or I’ve looked at thought I can’t even be bothered to get them in through all the mud try...

    Trouble with Assistance

So sorry to hear this. I had similar and told her I didn’t trust her and terminated our arrangement. As you say she’s the only help personally I’d sit down and have a conversation with her about your concerns and exactly what you need/expect. In the mean time look for someone else as other have...

    Hunting barefoot horses.

Update. I’ve been using durasole for about 5 days and have noticed his soles felt much better. I decided to see how he went at the hunt on Saturday. Oh wow what a difference!! The fact that he was completely fine for the short road work was one thing, but the yard itself was stony and he...

    Hunting barefoot horses.

Well I’ve ordered some Durasole that someone recommended to try toughen up his soles. Never heard of it before as American. Not cheap but worth trying for a few weeks. I have 6 weeks until the first hunt I can get chance to go on, so enough time to try this or shoe just before going. My...

    Hunting barefoot horses.

That’s my concern with him not happy on stony ground. Just wasn’t sure if there was any other new things about such as glue on boots that were better for hunting or a form of sole protection. To be fair my friends horse who is shod had a bit of metal wire get embedded in the foot while out...

    Hunting barefoot horses.

Poor horse. Some people have no consideration sadly. He will pull up and separate from others while out on pleasure rides etc. Hunting is very different though and he’s never been. My old boy was brilliant and barefoot but didn’t have flat feet. Now it’s Dakota’s time I just want to make sure...

    Hunting barefoot horses.

I bought him as a 4 yr old and he had only been shod for a few cycles. He’s 10 now. He’s got quite flat feet and never been happy on stony ground to this day which is a pain. He wears boots due to it. My others a gravel cruncher. Both fed and kept the same.
