She is always a class act - win or lose, she's the same. Never blames the horse and always first to credit the horse. Great rider and great team member - except she's not on the team :(
I was wondering the same, Interesting that a new obstacle, if you like, at Burghley this year is an underpass (a tunnel under a mound) much like that at the WEG. A lot of the commentators talk about the " dropping the head as they go under" and " spooking at the underpass" before the fence...
Firstly, what a super video ! Secondly, what a lovely bold youngster ! You say you've had her since an unbroken 3yr old so she's an absolute credit to you. I think you ride her very nicely and sympathetically - at no point does she look worried or hassled and you are with her all the way...
I would expect my horse to be moved if the YO wanted to do work in or to the stable and I would expect the YO or representative (ie daughter) to be competent and/or happy to do it. They should also have the expectation that my horse will be polite enough to handle. I don't see a problem with...
Oh go on, you know you want to ! Secretly wish they will touch it before you. I do, this time of year. The coat has come off, the grass is good, they push the boundaries and BINGO ! they touch the wire. Never again, well, before October anyway.
I have a teacher. Instructor is possible, although sounds authoritarian. Coach is good if you already have an idea and can "coach" you as to what is good. I have a teacher cos I need to learn.
Does it really matter which side a horse is plaited ? I'd rather on the left and neat and tidy than on the classic right side and a right mess ! But really, does it matter ? I agree with Steerpike, plait the side it falls on and it will look a whole lot better.
Oh crikey, thoughts are with you and your mum. Just try and remember and honour the life he had with you, the successes you both had, the character I'm sure he was and that you are doing the right thing by him. Horrible time, but do the best you can for you all.
Lovely yard owner turned out this morning. I got there eventually in my 4x4 to muck out and do feeds and haynets for the next couple of days. Yard owner offered to bring in and turn out tomorrow so went with that, otherwise it's just stopped snowing here. Thank goodness for lovely helpers :)
Not sure about in the dark, although mine didn't mind a manege with no lights as the car headlights through the hedge made him focus ! Don't forget you can school while you hack. Transitions can be from "that bush to that telegraph pole" and " that tree to that tree". Walk-trot, trot walk...
Oh I'm just getting so old ! What is nesh ?? And how come, if you warm a horse up with a thicker rug he's described as chilled ? Yes I know it means ...well, chilled but this language is just crazy !
