Gelding goes mad when meeting Stallion

She rides past my farm. Haven't been able to catch her yet when not with horse.

Gelding goes mad when meeting Stallion

That is what I am intending to do, unfortunately there is only one route we all have to take as we live on same lane. I haven't managed to get hold of her yet but I will tactfully ask her when she is likely to be hacking out. Our lanes are so narrow I am really more worried about her horse's...

Gelding goes mad when meeting Stallion

He was not just excited, he lost it and that was on his own drive. He could obviously smell the stallion. He reacts to very little out hacking, he is very sensible. My worry is that the stallion is not under complete control and passing on a narrow lane is not going to end well.

Gelding goes mad when meeting Stallion

I have a very sensible Highland pony gelding who I ride and longline out around our narrow lanes, no problem. Recently a stallion has moved into a property fairly local to me and we have met him twice on our hacks, luckily the first time I was about to turn in my drive and I avoided direct...

    Glue on shoes ????

I am very angry that I have been charged £250 by a farrier recommended by my vet to put on two hind Imprint shoes for my horse who has laminitis. One fell off after 10 days and had to be re stuck. The only reason I used this chap is because my regular farrier put plastic shoes on and made such...

    Probably controversial : Travellers/Gypsy

Travellers are becoming a real problem in Sussex. Since they moved in about a mile away there has been a lot of trouble. One youth in particular insists on racing a very young underfed and troubled pony up and down the road leading to the A29 with his dog loose by the side. He uses the middle...

Canter on tarmac - do you?

I agree. I expect the "fat" woman was only concerned with the ponies welfare and was probably trying to impart some wisdom to two teenagers who would appear to not know any better. I was always taught that cantering and fast trotting on roads is very bad for horses and I still believe this...

    Is anyone buying equestrian properties?

We have a lovely 5 bed house with 6.75 acres plus sand school on quiet country lane in West Sussex. It has taken us 2 years to finally sell and to a totally non horsey couple. We had 2 sales go tits up because of idiots further down the chain and we have had no horsey viewers at all. I was...

    Section D. Saddle question.

My 15.1 short coupled D is now in a 17" Kay Humphries treeless after a lot of problems with other saddles. He is now a very happy bunny.

Does anyone not ride during the winter months?

I feel so much better reading others posts. I hate this time of year and always feel guilty for not riding even when the weather is foul. I try to ride 2 or 3 times a week but really feel I should just write the winter off and get going again in the spring. I am sure my boy would be more than...

Please can someone help me understand? *no nasty comments allowed*

I have two natives plus a shetland and two donkeys who are out during the day but can come into the yard and have access to barns. At night I shut them in the top paddock but they can still access the yard and barns. I give them plenty of hay and straw beds but they still prefer to stand out...

Anyone else having a 'not so great' month?

Have also had a crappy year amongst which we are trying to sell our house and 3 times have got to exchange and someone down the chain has pulled out for some stupid reason. Stress levels at 100%. Mother ill and staying with us which is a strain and various other crappy things but reading about...
