Thanks everyone for the replies, really helped! :) Right now I'm keeping my options open but I think getting more equine experience would be the best option if I want to work with them.

    Apprenticeship/ job advice

Hi, I'm 17 currently studying Animal Management at Reaseheath College. Although I chose to do a general animal course, I've always had a passion for horses! I learnt the basics in a riding school, rode my friend's horse and also part loaned my own pony. I've never been an amazing rider but I...

Hi, My friend has gone away for 2 weeks and has agreed to let me go and ride her pony. I have ridden her a lot recently doing general schooling and occasional jumping. She can be very good but has her mare-ish days and likes to do the odd buck. I will be able to go up and ride with her friend...

What type of pony should I buy?

I totally agree with the other replies, cobs are great! I think 14hh and above would be a good start for you. I'm about 11 stone and the smallest I've ridden is a stocky 14hh pony, I wouldn't go any smaller. If this is your first pony then maybe you should be looking for a confidence giver, a...
