    Contact Query

I agree with scats and foxy1. They need to push into something, how strong the 'something' is depends. I think a light contact can lead more to a 'false' outline as it's easy for them to be trundling along not using themselves correctly but looking pretty as it can be harder to 'feel' in a...

    It’s just a colour!

Same,! I already have a grey so I was adamant no more, I ended up with a blue and white aka a coloured who is greying out 🤦‍♀️🤣

    Bee Keeper fly mask

I use Rambo ones or I did buy a Harrison Howard Mask last time as I struggled to find any Rambo ones about.

    Mylo & Myka

Try not to stress on canter, Beryl will be 7 this year and it has only really fully clicked so its 'easy' in the last 6 months or so. I decided it was clearly something hard for her in the arena, even large ones, so we focussed on just doing it out hacking in straight lines, in the field where...

Cheval Liberte XL Touring v Maxi 2

Always a good bet, the Bockmann and another make I cannot remember were there last time I went, and looked fab. Was good to nosey round other makes you might not see as many of in day to day. If Skylla wasn't so precious and Beryl not so bloody big I would have had loads more options lol!

Cheval Liberte XL Touring v Maxi 2

Yeah I was determined for a separate tack locker after years with my wee 3.5t where hay went everywhere! I ended up with the Equi-Trek, as one of mine is very claustrophobic and had started to refused to come out the front of a normal front facing trailer, so the standard touring was out as it...

Cheval Liberte XL Touring v Maxi 2

I went with the Equi-Trek day trekker, but I bought it before the XL touring came out! I didn't consider the Maxi, as I wasn't sure on travelling them herringbone (mine all travel very well backwards facing and it seemed a risk to suddenly go a different way) and someone I knew had one and the...

Thunking of downgrading on a horse

Get a nice PBA, depending on the mix you can get something taller. All ones I've known have been super, great temperaments, can go and compete but equally just lovely rides if thats not your bag, plus tend not to command the big bucks ;). I started with a lovely PBA, then had two very hot/ sharp...

Bad outcomes/luck linked to a specific place?

Hopefully the bad luck will end soon! I did move from a yard where I felt like we were on a never ending cycle of 'bad luck', vet bills, pts, horses not settling, both ridden prospects both being ruled out of being comp horses anymore, all the space of a few years, when they'd both thrived...

    Contact Query

I think its a tricky Q as both ways have merit and neither are wrong. I agree it is definitely dependant on the horse and what training they have had. Topaz is much better leg to hand, she is insecure and likes the lead and support, but equally most of the higher level dressage work with her...

Did we all manage to get to the yard today?

A good few inches of snow here in North Wales, glad for a 4x4 yesterday but the roads are pretty clear today!

    Bridle recommendations?

All mine have Henry James and the oldest must be around 7 years old and still comes up like new, sad if its true that the quality has gone downhill though :(. I bought my last one a couple of years back and its still in great nick.

    Equi-trek show trekka experiences?

I’m not sure when they switched from wooden panels to fibreglass, so for a ten year old trailer I’d be looking for signs of soft/ damp/ peeling panels. Same for the floor, I’d want someone to check the axels/ wheels/ breaks/ etc.

    Equi-trek show trekka experiences?

Yes I had one, someone had added an extra wooden board that pulled out that meant the bed could be widened, though I never actually did sleep in it myself. Lovely trailer and I've since upgraded to the new Day-Treka as I don't need overnight living right now, horses travel well in it and the...
