I also despise 2017 so far after I lost my grandad only a few weeks ago who brought me up along with my nan! I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your favourite livery horse and hopefully it'll pick up for you
I lost my boy 2 months ago and had a major sort out of stuff. I kept his rugs, headcollarsed, grooming kit, bridle saddle, a lock of his mane (which I had turned into a bracelet) and his stable plaque which is now in a frame in my room. Like you OP I will also not be getting a new horse due to...
I have been through this with NFU too in the past couple weeks. I lost my boy back in August and they have only just paid out. We had to wait for the horse valuer to value how much my boy was worth. They have now paid out but it has taken quite a while to be honest.
I would not recommend NFU to anyone, they were rude and frankly a pain in the bum to deal with when my boy was put down last month. We got them to pay for the vet bills and then cancel the insurance as there was no need for it anymore. Only a few days ago they sent me a form to renew my policy...
Personally after the experience I've just had with laminitis I would stay well clear to avoid any heart break. There are lots of companion ponies about that are about who are perfectly health.
At 14 weeks your baby is protected the most out of the whole pregnancy due to the thickness of your uterus wall (sorry for tmi for some people 😂) As long as you don't feel any different or have any signs of spotting or bleeding then I wouldn't be overly concerned. If it helps you relax a...
I had to put my boy down just under 3 weeks ago and I was devestated and I still am. I think you know deep down that it is the best option and at the end of the day she sounds like she's had a brilliant life with you which should be a huge comfort.
Thank you all for your kind words. It really was the best option as even if he did get better he would do some damage to himself being in the stable for that amount of time. I will always have the good memories of him and luckily just before he went I did get see a glimmer of my naughty little...
Thank you all for the kind words. It was so hard but I know it was the right decision as it is unfair to keep him alive just because I wanted him too be. He was an outdoors pony and it was just cruel to him to leave him in for the period suggested but I am happy to the fact I know now he's out...
So a week or so ago I posted about how my little pony had some unexplained lameness and we called the vet out who unfortunately confirmed laminitis. He was also tested for cushings which came back positive. The vet visited this afternoon to see how he was progressing. Unfortunately he hadn't...
Thank you everyone for the kind words and advice. He seems brighter today however he's still shifting his weight. Unfortunately shoes aren't an option and even the vet explained that he didn't want to put shoes in him either. I also did read the link that you posted _HP_ so thank you for the...
Possibly I never even thought of doing that, it was such a shock yesterday that I could have lost my boy I was an emotional wreck! I have sorted him out this morning and he looks a bit brighter so hopefully he's feeling a bit better.
