Wondered what peoples thoughts were on bedding a horse on straw that has previously had ulcers.. she does like to eat the bed (even if left a little dirty). I have heard mixed reactions to straw scratching the stomach etc but I do like the idea of them being able to nibble if needed..
Saddle fitter thinks both could be an option due to the shaped tree, shes in a k2 gp now so 'on paper' the k2 dressage should fit, the slk and k2 DR i have seen online are not with my saddler and im unlikely to be able to try them both during the same week and so I just wondered if anyone had...
My k2 has a curved tree when I spoke with someone they said both the SLK and K2 were good for this, im struggling to see the difference between the two, the SLK is always a couple of hundred more but im not sure why, perhaps a newer model im not sure...i think im just going to have to trial a few!
So im finally taking the plunge and looking to buy my horse another saddle(second hand) the same two options keep cropping up in my budget.. Albion K2 dressage and Albion SLK dressage, can anyone tell me the difference between the two from experience ? what they are like to ride in? Ultimately...
I sent my horse to the blood bank last year its a really nice place and considering you have hundreds of horses in the open they all just had their heads down eating and they all looked in great condition and incredibly relaxed, it was the best decision i made and im glad i saw it for myself!
They said because i had a large claim it puts a higher premium on my policy for the next 3yrs. I had the horse just under a year but had to make an ulcer claim, hind and front limb and loss of use so they have had to pay out.. i was just surprised as all the issues were out of my control as he...
NFU have just paid out Loss of use on mine as their isnt a treatment for what he had..80% market value. I think you only get 100% if they have to be put down not if you choose to however I could be wrong..
Thank you I will get a quote from them for my next one. I was trying to avoid a vetting if possible I've bought two that passed a 5 stage and were crippled within 2/3 months. My solicitor even agreed for the first ones that the bloods wont show anything and they didn't £500 later! Looks like its...
Yes I agree with loss of use the premium is high, however the difference between not having loss of use and having it cost me an extra £300 for the year and I ended up with 80% payout on my horse. I only plan to do Loss of Use for the first 12 months to make sure its not up to its eyes in...
Can I ask whether you have had to pay vets fees first and then be paid by insurance or has it been straight forward? Also did you have to vet to get the loss of use cover? (I just don't think vettings are worth the paper they are written on anymore..) Thanks
Unfortunately I have just had to claim loss of use against my horse for a fused lumbosacral, so for a reason out of my control... I have been getting quotes from other insurance companies whilst looking for a new horse and wondered whether anyone could share good/ bad recent experiences for the...
yes id like to give him a chance if i can, but with a hard face i only purchased him 2 months before he broke down. So not keen to pay for him to sit in a field for the rest of his life..clearly bought someone elses problem!
Thanks for this its very useful, he is a good doer so doesn't get any hard feed just grass.
Had sacroiliac and suspensories medicated however it hasn't worked so with no medication he would just be the same, he looks fine in the field just not under saddle. I would sign the horse over to be...
I have a well mannered horse that unfortunately can no longer be ridden, I am reluctant offer him as a loan/ companion therefore I would be keen to hear if anyone has ever sent their horse to a blood bank and what the requirements are for horses taken in, can they have been medicated prior to...
