There is one bit of information which I think would be interesting and that is whether there is any evidence that the horses which suffer these sort of falls have been stood on a horsebox for hours prior to competing. Travelling and a long day on a lorry have to have an effect on horses.

Well done, Mark Phillips! A true four star course which really had everyone talking. 3 horses clear within the time is exactly how it should be. Highlight of the day for me? Opposition Buzz - being strong and bossy, but amazing at his age to still have springs for legs!
Do lots of trotting and cantering in and around all the fences until she is settled. Start by jumping very small cross poles/trotting poles and making her halt within 2 to 3 strides of landing. You must be consistent with this until you are entirely confident that you are in control!
I used to have to clip my Conn x TB at this time of the year and while the weather is like this I would not rug him. It just means you have to clip more. Maybe a high trace clip or a blanket clip?
A lot of polo ponies have no mouth left! Also they have always been ridden in a standing martingale and that will help stop the head shaking etc. If she is happy in a Pelham so be it. There is no point trying a million bits. Also remember that they do very little trotting even when getting fit...
We used to do a week's walking for every month they have had off. Early July is about right to start them off - they do not need to be too fit for Autumn Hunting. I do lots of proper walking, ie on the bit and marching for a week or two and then add some trotting preferably uphill and not too...
I have to say I would walk away. There are enough things that can go wrong in the future and even x-rays are not always foolproof. The horse is 3 and I am sure you can find another.
