what would you do with a rearer?

He was checked out a few years ago, he did show some signs of bone spavin which have been treated and I manage. He has always had a nappy streak, eg would rear and have a tantrum when I tried to bring him in from the field and make him leave his friends.

what would you do with a rearer?

I have a ten year old gelding that I have persevered with for 5 years. This weekend he bucked me off in the dressage warm up of a competition giving me suspected fractured vertebrae. He has never done this before but has a degree in rearing and napping. Bucking until he got me off is a new...

    Weeing Pony

A friend is wondering what's up with her pony. He has recently started bucking under saddle. The usual back, teeth and saddle checks have come out fine. Also for the last few weeks the pony wees under saddle within 10 minutes of being ridden which is unusual for this pony. Friend phoned the...

Unsteady in the head - dressage

Thank you all for your responses they are all really useful and thought provoking. I might get his teeth checked again to be on the safe side and actually from what you guys are saying it's probably a combination of my fiddly hands. (They are I looked at the video again) and his lack of...

Unsteady in the head - dressage

I have recently done a dressage test and one of the remarks was unsteady in the head. I have also noticed this when I look back at videos of us that he isn't consistent to the contact. What I'm not sure about is why. My assumptions are that either/and/or he is not forward enough into the hand...

    Mark Todd - Dusky Moon

Yep, I had a quick google and I'm sure he was THB. Shame they haven't kept his details up to date on BE as he was by Another Hoarwithy who is a really good stallion, deserves to get the credit for him.

    Mark Todd - Dusky Moon

Yes of course, the honourable bob rings a bell. Eddie always used to prefix his horses names with 'Autumn' but seems to have stopped doing that. He has bought some fab horses, a number of which from Toddy so it doesn't surprise me that he's got the ride on Dusky Moon

    Mark Todd - Dusky Moon

I looked on BE at Karen's horses and it doesn't tie up with any? Says breeding unknown born 1994 but I can't see any of Karen's horses that correspond to that, not even the DOB.

    Mark Todd - Dusky Moon

I know Dusky Moon is Eddie Stibbe's horse, do you know who used to own him before Eddie. Was he one of Karen Dixon's horses and Eddie changed his name?

Quality of hay at the moment

I am sorry to say that I find Kent hay to be generally of poor quality and expensive. I don't know why this is the case maybe supply and demand.

Go on then, try your best

OK, I'm not being mean here just trying to help by responding. I would say that she is too long in the back, upright shoulder and hocks, short through the neck which makes her head look a little large for her body. Her fronts look a bit too boxy to me. In fact she looks a lot like my boy...
