    Showing amateur looking for guidance...

Good advice! I'd add a horse that stands quietly without fidgeting means a lot to me. I cant stand it when the judge is giving out the rosettes at the end and the horse wont stand still - one very good judge (in my opinion) actually refused to give a rosette to a horse they had placed 1st in one...

Showing Good jodhpurs for M&M showing?

Can anyone recommend a brand of jods/breeches that is the "right" colour for M&M showing? I dont want banana legs as i'm in my mid thirties but I've ordered "corn" and "beige" coloured ones online and they are a weird ashy brown colour. I cant seem to get it right! I marched around windsor...

Showing New horse a workers pro, but I am not - where can we start

Update: thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I contacted the BSPS and the NPS and they have advised which classes I/he can enter together. I also have a very long list of results now, which is lovely!

In hand showing - horse has low head carriage

Thats good, thank you. I have been working on increasing thoracic sling strength whle ridden, so hopefully this will improve as the ridden continues to strengthen, but it's always useful to have book/dvd recommendations too!

In hand showing - horse has low head carriage

Thank you :) I think I also need to accept he's a ridden type of D rather than an in hand type. He's very mannerly, and so moves quietly and neatly next to me.

Showing New horse a workers pro, but I am not - where can we start

Good point - I feel silly for not thinking of asking previous owners about flat classes! Haha! As far as I'm aware they mainly focused on workers with him, but I think his previous previous owners did flat classes when he was young. I've done a bit of googling, and can't find anything for flat...

In hand showing - horse has low head carriage

Does anyone have any in-hand exercises I can do to teach my horse to have a slightly higher head carriage in hand? He's a welsh D, and is a little downhill, and I know the obvious answer is to teach him to move more from behind. This is coming slowly under saddle, which I think will help...

    Jumpcross is no more!

Such a shame - I finally have a horse who isnt a wimp, so I started googling where I could do jumpcross... but alas, no more... !

Showing New horse a workers pro, but I am not - where can we start

Hi Everyone, Last year I bought a lovely welsh D who has previously qualified for the M+M workers at RIHS. While that is a wonderful achievement, I dont think I have the nerve to compete at that height. Are there any affiliated comps where he would still be eligible to do lower level workers...

TRT method instead of turning away for young just broken horses - (for those who have done the method)

I'm feeling a lot more confident around him now. I've had a D for the last 16 years, but he was a very different personality. My last D was wimpish and hysterical, whereas this one is bold and independent, so i'm learning new tactics!

TRT method instead of turning away for young just broken horses - (for those who have done the method)

Yep, he's a D. Glad to hear it worked well for you. I can't help feeling a little nervous around him at present - we're still in the "getting to know you" phase and I just don't know how he's going to react to things at the moment. I'm trying to hide my nerves and be kind but firm, but we've got...

TRT method instead of turning away for young just broken horses - (for those who have done the method)

Hello, I know there's a few of you who on here have followed the TRT method in training - I've recently bought myself the Training Your Young Horse modules, and aim to work through them. I'm not sure whether you're supposed to watch them all through before doing the training or do one module and...

    It’s happening!

Congratulations - i'm waiting for a vetting for my next welsh D too, so we can compare notes! :) Yours is lovely - cant beat a nice set of white socks on a D!

    Mucking out straw beds

I'm another who used wood pellets underneath straw, but only a scoop full sprinkled in the main "wee patch" - it seems to lock the wee together and stop it getting twirled around and spread in the straw.
