I have a gelding by Sunny Boy out of a Clover Hill mare. Exceptionally talented, won at newcomers within his first year of BS and is a demon against the clock. Great temperament, laid back and the sweetest, cuddliest horse on the ground - but to ride he is the sharpest, quirkiest horse I've ever...
2nd runs are only run at a number of venues around the country at this time of year before Scope. As it happens, annoyingly, there are no 2nd rounds in Areas 17 or 18 this year. Nearest one for us is Harrogate on June 21st and all second rounds are pre-entry so you'll never find yourself...
The Dean Valley 85cm are Amateur courses so they are built a bit more 'technically' than a BN. Church Farm midweek shows (usually a Wednesday) are fantastic as they're quite quiet and it's a lot of novice horses - when I was working for myself and able to go to Church Farm every Wednesday I...
I'm on a yard with 8 horses and 7 acres, no arena. Decent hacking in winter as long as not icy as all on very quiet private lanes, better in summer as the farmers let us canter round the edge of their fields. Very easy to keep the horses fit just walking and trotting round the lanes which you...
If you're approaching from the m62, you pass the airport on your right, Barton Moss Road, Boysnope golf club, big house with farmyard behind. If you get to the Funny round about you've gone too far. If you're hacking on the moss the fields are almost opposite the fisheries. If you're hacking...
Marriots is very small and stables there are like gold dust so you'll have no chance there I'm afraid. Grange farm is on the other side, just off Fallow road. If you went past Marriots and drove right up over the motorway bridge, turn left and then your next left and over the motorway bridge...
I keep 3 horses on Barton Moss, unfortunately we are very affected by the current siutation but it is only on our side - the rest of the moss won't really notice it as our yard is right at the access point and they don't really move off that one stretch of road. I see the police every day and...
I have a large broodmare for whom my truck is a very snug fit when travelling partitioned. She has previously colicked severely whilst travelling partitioned before and now travels loose with the partitions out. Never had a problem and would have no issue travelling another sensible horse this way.
Jake Paterson for teeth - he's based at Pictus Stud so should come your way, real horseman and good with all sorts. Can definitely confirm he's fine with big 'uns!
I back and bring ponies from 11.2hh+ on for a living and am in my mid-twenties. What usually happens is I'll either back the pony, return it, then get it back when it has done enough to want 'tuning', or I'll bring it on through unaffiliated classes then teach the child on the pony as part of...
Great thread :) Hope you get a lot of responses!
I used to be based in Europe and competed in show-jumping at 3* level with great success - it was my job and was generally considered to be 'on the up and up.'
But through a combination of several issues I lost my nerve, getting to a point one...
