    Snow with Shoes?

My horse is shod with just plain regular iron shoes. It snows a ton here in New York and I was wondering if it is safe to ride in the snow or if my horse won't have enough traction? I know it gets slippery faster with shoes but if the snow is a few inches deep would it be ok? I just don't...

    Youngster with a phobia! Help!

A rescue horse I rehabilitated used to be terrified to have anything below the knees touched. My suggestion would be to just randomly run your hand down the leg very non-chalantly as far as he will calmly let you go. Then go a little farther while pretending like you don't care a bit about...

    Stallions

I don't own one but I take full care of a Friesan stallion at the farm where I work. He is an angel and you would never know he was a stallion. He is, however, an old type Friesan so the draft-ish side calms him down and he is also super highly trained. I think that, like with all horses...

    Parelli Dressage Saddle

I don't want to offend anyone here but I feel like this thread is kind of pointless. If you don't like the saddle, no one is forcing you to buy it! Personally I don't like Parelli, although some of their techniques, if you modify them, can work. I would not buy any of their saddles or anything...

Help - Pony and I need a makeover!

Sometimes muddy horses are the happiest horses! And if that's all you've got time for then it's nobody else's business! If you are really asking for grooming advice I'd just say do it everyday - I do it with my mare and she never gets too gross. It also helps spread the oils in their coat...

    Pre-meditated spooking?

This could really not be helpful at all but whenever my horse gets dominant or gets away with something she gets bold and then extremely spooky on purpose, but in doing so she actually does scare herself. So basically it's on purpose and then it gets out of control and real. Does that make...

    Horse bites headcollar every time...

My girl does this too, she even holds the lead rope while I'm leading her. For her it's a good thing because when she gets uptight or stressed (which happens quite easily) her mouth gets tight and clamped shut. I don't correct her for it because anything to get her mouth looser is helpful, but I...

    Hello! **PICS**

teach - I'm at Houghton College, it's like 20 mins south of Buffalo, about an hour north of Erie, Pennsylvania. It's a very small school so I would be amazed if you'd heard of it!

    Hollow Flanks

My horse had hollow flanks once and it was because she was dehydrated. Do you know how much your horse is drinking? They get all sucked-up looking in the gut when they get dehydrated. Just a thought, the other comments are more likely but this is an easy thing to check

    Hello! **PICS**

Hello everyone! I've been on this forum for a while now but I just now signed up so I figured I'd introduce myself! I'm going to college in New York (not the city, just the state) and studying Psychology and Equestrian Studies. I brought my horse, Molly, to school with me. I'm excited to have...
