    Feeling useless after a fall..

I have thought about buying a schoolmaster type. The only thing that worries me is the amount of BD points it would be allocated. I know you can downgrade a horse but I think this then means you cannot qualify for championships etc. I imagine it would be hard to find a trained horse with...

    Feeling useless after a fall..

Yes I know, sounds crazy now thinking about it. I would have enjoyed watching it compete, but maybe it would never be suitable for me to ride. Back to the drawing board!.

    Feeling useless after a fall..

I would like to have something nice enough to do a nice dressage test. With quality enough movement and paces to compete BD. I would love to jump small fences, but not sure if I would ever be brave enough. I used to do a bit of jumping as a teenager never tried it since!.

I think I am being a bit silly really. It may turn out to have never been suitable for me to ride.

    Feeling useless after a fall..

The two year old was in a very well known stud. So although I do not agree with youngsters not seeing a farrier, I had confidence that the owner was well respected honest and sells good stock. As I said it was purely that I fell in love with the look of the horse and I was looking for something...

    Feeling useless after a fall..

To be fair to my instructor. I am not a complete novice I have ridden in the past , I have ridden both her stallions many times and never had a problem. I have also had lunge lessons with no reins stirrups etc on her stallion. They really are well behaved most of the time. They have also been...

    Feeling useless after a fall..

No it def bolted. It was probably not the horses fault to be fair to him. He is quite sensitive I am sure he was reacting to my nerves and my position is not great in canter. So I probably made the horse bolt without knowing it. The canter in my last lesson was forward but calm.

    Feeling useless after a fall..

Had a lesson on Tuesday I was riding so much better. Trot work felt beautiful had the horse nice and relaxed working in a lovely soft outline. I was feeling really confident and relaxed then I asked for canter horse did not go. After a few bad transition attempts instructor spurred the horse on...

New career with horses at 33 ?.

I understand what you mean. The horse would have been in training livery with a view to me being able to ride it when it was older,I would have kept up my lessons. But yes maybe not the best idea.

Vetting for a two year old

Thanks for the replies. The asking price for the two year old was 10k, to me that is expensive. Anyway things have not worked out well on the same day I was due to book the vetting I fell off a horse whilst having a lesson. Having hurt my back and having all my confidence taken away from me...

Vetting for a two year old

Hi I have seen a two year old I would like to purchase. It is a expensive horse but the owner has not got appropriate facilities to run the horse up and will not allow the horse to be flextion tested. The horse has never been taught to pick up its feet.so I was thinking the safest option is to...

    DIY livery costs south east

Having always been on full livery I am curious to know how much I could save if I was DIY. Can anyone give me some costs for keeping a horse between 16.2 and 17 hands on DIY. Please include costs of bedding, hay feed etc. I would be in the Essex area so any info on costs relative to the area...

    10k for a two year old ?.

Thanks for the replies, very mixed views!. I will go and see the youngsters in the flesh and go with my instinct. I was just wondering about the price because their are a lot of horses for sale under saddle already competing, with good breeding for 10k.

    10k for a two year old ?.

Hi , I have seen a couple of two year olds for sale, both have lovely movement very well bred and nice to look at. Both the owners are asking 10k. I was just wondering if it is expensive or normal to pay such a high price for a very young horse. Both horses are home bred. Thanks.
