    ex race horse!

I have owned my exracehorse for about 16 months and he did this for months and months when I first mounted him (and sometimes still does if he hasn't been worked for a few days!). He has been vetted and has had physios and equine massage therapists at various points (for assymmetric pelvis) and...

    Best calmer for a TB?

What's the best calmer for a flighty 9yr old TB? He is prone to what seems like panic attacks and gets very nervous, working himself up into a state of chaotic anxity!

Racing footage of my boy, need help please

Have you tried the 'at the races' website? That's where I found mine, who raced from 2001 - 2007, so it definetly goes back further than 10 years. And you don't have to pay to watch them, you just sign up.

    Uneven Pelvis

I also have this problem (well, my horse does!). Apparently it could happen as a result of an old fracture but some horses are just born with it. My exracehorse developed it from racing round one way for seven years! His physio gave me stretches to do where you rest your left hand on his...

Pus in an absess - what does a pink colour indicate?

It could be blood which is a good thing, according to my farrier, who said that is an indicator that all the infected pus is draining out. Mine had the same abscess twice. The first time, no blood and the abscess came back as it hadn't all drained out. Second time, there was blood and it never...

    Conditioning an ex racer!

I had exactly the same problems with mine - he also looked like an RSPCA case. You ncould count every single rib on him and his coat had bald patches on. It totally disgusted my the way he was treated by his racing yard when they had finished with him. My vet said his whole system was in total...

    Carrot overload

Carrots don't really have that much sugar! Plus the digestive system actually burns off more calories digesting them than the carrots produce. I eat loads of carrot sticks everyday but they do not send me hyper!

Heat in both hind legs - why?

Definetly not mud fever as he does not go out in winter (it makes him very stressed!) Also the heat was/is in both back legs, not just one and there is no swelling at all. It might just be because it was cold! But I wonder why his front legs were not hot?

    should i be worried??

I know some horses stand like that if they've injured their suspensory ligaments but you'd probably know about it if your mare had done that! x

    Need A Cheaper Alternative

I used to feed this as well and changed for the same reason. Firstly, if you look at the ingredients of Winergy Growth (and the other Winergy Equilibrium stuff) there is nothing special in it. Its basically just a chopped alfalfa and oat straw chaff with grass nuts and oil. The growth stuff...

Heat in both hind legs - why?

I noticed my 10 yr old TB's hind fetlocks were hot after exercise yesterday and today. There is no swelling and he is not lame but they both seemed hot. Both his front legs were fine and much and cooler. He wears sports medicine boots while exercising. We were not doing anything particularly...
