I would definitely take a step back and separate them for the time being. Let him get used to her being around without her being a threat, and give her time to get used to you all.
I've only been using it since November so not really been tested against sweet itch, but I *think* they may be slightly less itchy. It looks and smells lovely anyway! 🤣
Oof! I guess it makes sense though, following on from Saxenda(Skinnyjab)/Ozempic being 'repurposed', as it's another medication to help type 2 diabetics.
As an aside it's only really suitable for short term use in equines, 1-2 months really.
The equine use is still too 'new' to be confident of no adverse longer term effects. Metformin is used long-term, but many vets seem to be sceptical of its effectiveness.
Do you know why they have been discontinued? By all accounts they are wonder drugs (for equines at least!) so I'm curious if there were any concerns about potential side effects etc?
My sec A was on half a pill a day for 4 weeks and her insulin went from 174 to 9.
Can you get canagliflozin (Invokana) or has that been discontinued too?
As far as I know the two are pretty much interchangable - my vet said she prescribes whichever is cheapest at the time!
One word of caution I would give with using the CL only is that if you use stirrups with it, the pressure wouldn't be distributed particularly well. The TCS however is specifically designed to allow stirrups to be used without the additional bulk of a traditional saddle.
'So I was wondering about cutting the straps off the pad, and using the TCS as a girth.'
This is what I did in effect, though I thought of it the other way around - I used the CL as a pad, and the TCS + girth as the saddle. Very comfortable, but then I only pottered around on my fairly elderly...
I placed an order a month or two ago. Mentioned on here that it was slow delivery, then the next day received an email from them apologising for the delay, that they'd recently placed an advert in a horse magazine and had unprecedented demand following that. They were hastily trying to fulfil...
Sorry, can't add any advice other than what's already been said, but I was wondering how you were feeling after your horrible accident? Did the yard move go ok? Has his behaviour changed at all since then?
