What if you try and take him somewhere else for a lesson or a schooling session then the pressures not always there when he goes away, that way neither you or him is tense/worried/excited, then he might lose a bit of his tension or apprehnsion when he's out competing? Is it too cold to bath my horse?

[ QUOTE ] Yeah sure, i'd bath and dry each section as I went along (wet it, soap it, rinse, dry off with towel), a bit time consuming but normally worth it. Had to do it in the bitter mid winter for a white horse who was only a skinny thin skinned TB and he didn't have a problem with it, in fact...

Patience and practise I'm afraid... With your impulsion from the hind legs, why not try getting him to do a "big" trot, really feel like your trying to squeeeze every ounce of trot out of him for a long side, then fetch him back to a "little" trot where your keeping him in trot but its as slow...

    Sarcoid??

Yeah I was considering camrosa, but didn't want to start treating it aggressivly until I was sure what it was...half of me says treat it as a sarcoid before it gets big and nasty, and the other half says leave it alone and see how it develops....what you think? which one would you do? I'll have...

When would you say a horse is too big for the rider ?

..too big when they can't cope - but then again lots of right sized people can't cope on "right" sized horses. Therefore a horse can only too big when you can't get on it from a)mounting block b)fence c)step ladders.....

Daihatsu! we've just got one after our clapped our old but trusty landy gave up the ghost, and its fab - and a tonne more luxurious! which is saying something considering its quite an old model!! (except if you turn the back windscreen wipers on it'll short the rest of the electrics out!)

Trotting on the roads - Do you?

[ QUOTE ] If your horse is well prepared, ie in a fittening programme, or fit (by this I don't just mean muscle, I mean legs well prepared) then there is no problem whatsoever. Do plenty of walking on the roads, building to short bursts of trot (over time) and you should find you can move onto...

Trotting on the roads - Do you?

Yes, Its damn good fittening work! Obviously you have to use your head and be sensible about it, trotting too much on the road for an unfit horse would be as damaging as cantering through fields of soft or heavy going. When well planned its good repetitive work for bone remodelling and...
