I had the same problem - my horse was never really hacked out alone before I got her as a 9 year old (she's now 14). After a new mare was introduced to the herd, her napping ( which had been annoying but manageable ) became unbelievably bad - like nothing I had experienced before. Refused to...
Yeah - I did the tied up haynet thing & just knotted the string till it was all used up. My coblet was on 4 & a half months box rest & a friend suggested it - it was very successful. I tied nets up at the wall at night to stop her tripping over them in the dark !
I tend to disguise stuff with mint, garlic , apple cidre vinegar or fenugreek mixed in with their feed. . . or if it's something vile like wormer, everything goes in ! Speedibeet is great stuff to absorb powders !
I got a pair of Dunlop Actifort wellies recently - They're black with red grippy soles & most importantly, steel toecaps ! They were under £30, and if they're too long for you, you can trim them down with scissors ! Think most of the dunlop wellies are goodly wide. . .
Thanks for your reply ! The dealer says Thorowgood have been let down by a supplier, but you know how you wonder if it's just you ! ! Was that quite recently ?
My girls are on 38 acres of cattle pasture, so the big girl has to wear a greenguard muzzle all summer. I keep the diet topped up with balancer because it's almost impossible for her to self medicate with hedgerow goodies. I give them mint, parsley they love hawthorn leaves & berries & rosehips...
I got the equilibrium massage pad & mit for my girlie & she absolutely LOVES it. She nods off when it's on - it relaxes her so much ! At first, I wasn't much taken with the mitt, but it is now a valued bit of kit for neck & shoulders. Can't recommend the equilibrium stuff highly enough &...
I ordered a Thorowgood T8 saddle in mid June from a thorowgood dealer. . . It's now mid September & I still don't have it. . .About a month ago they sent up the T4 version of my saddle, but I refused it. Anyone else had a long wait or is it just me ?:(
Big girl = Huge personality that knows exactly how to wind me around her hoofs with her fabulous & clever communication.
baby coblet = Incredibly cute & cheeky with a puppyish playfulness, a lively mind and desire to learn & please me
A vet gave me a telling off for having a no fill rug on my chunky cob in winter. She said it would make her colder than being out naked - the hair raises to trap warmth - with a no-fill in the rain/snow, the hair can't work properly. She said it's like wearing wellies without socks - your feet...
Yeah, I have a garden plastic chest thingy too. Great. Fling it all in & shut the lid - hey presto ! Tidy ! I put a wee padlock on it too. Will offer a small degree of protection against mouse damage. Lots of bridle racks for hanging various stuff up & saddle rack on wall. Very neat & tidy:D
